It's 10 pm, and I've literally got nothing to do for the next 3 and a half hours ish (unless my wife emails me (GRRR EMAIL ME WIFE!), and I can't go to sleep because I'm on watch. The only restrictions with being on watch are that I must stay alert and I must keep a radio on me and respond if any issues come up (very unlikely). Beyond that I have freedom to move about.

So, suggest shennanigins I can get into over the next 3 hours.

I'm quite sure there's already too much of that going on around here.

And blogs are out of the picture.

All the blog websites are blocked, and even if they weren't, I'd be to worried about writing something I wasn't supposed to. (I'm already paranoid about that here.)

and TE, I can't watch videos. Even if they weren't blocked the internet's soo slow it would be pointless.

Otherwise I would SOOO be doing that.

You're putting your country at grave risk by posting your watch schedule.

I see my tax dollars are being hard at work.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

ha if only you knew the irony of that statement. In like the last two weeks, I've not slept more than about 2 to 3 hours at a time, because I've been busy working, doing sailory stuff. (and often that's all the sleep I get for the night) (As an example, last night I went to bed at 10:30pm, and woke up at 12:00am. Then I didn't sleep again until earlier this afternoon, about 4pm. I slept until 6:00 when I had to get up to take care of something, then went back to sleep at 8pm and had to get up at 9 to be ready to assume this watch at 9:30. And with the exception of eating chow, and a few 10 to 15 minute breaks here or there, I was working the whole time I was awake.)

Also, our optimum manning for this ship is 350 people. We have about 245 onboard.

Granted this watch is relatively easy, and involves a lot of sitting around. But if I weren't here and one of the weapon systems broke, there would be no one to get the ball rolling on getting it fixed.

Further, we're deterring Iranians from launching missiles at the US, so yes, I think your tax dollars are hard at work. Or at the very least, every soul on this ship is.

Sarn, something that I've noticed in the military is that the more people abuse the NIPR the more they crack down on their filters. I just wonder if it's a matter of time until they expand them out to include more game sites and Massassi ends up getting blocked for you. I don't remember the last time I could access the site on a government computer. It's kind of a blessing in disguise.

Yeah, they just recently blocked Facebook. But that's not Navy wide. Just 5th Fleet I guess. :(
