Saying goodbye to my dear first Mac (NOT SAFE FOR 3G / EDGE / DIALUP)

Having recently purchased my shiny new MacBook Pro I've had to sell on my dear first 12" PowerBook. She's gone to a nice chap in London, special delivery.

Here's what I sent him via email:

Apparently my email gave him a "warm fuzzy glow".

That made me happy. :D

umm....yay? Nice job posting his address too, haha

But really, the 12" PowerBook was one of my favorite laptops. Just the perfect form factor in my opinion.

Well i thought "who here's going to send him poo in a jiffy bag?" It's nothing you can't get from the E2 phonebook. :)

Yeah, I loved that little laptop - I had to wait 4 years for something near a replacement - the 13" MBP. It's a little wide, but bugger me it's fast.

All I can say is that I've seen better wrap jobs than that before.

I'm sure you have. I'll tell you what I told the recipient:

(1) I am a man, therefore (as is more likely) pretty crap at wrapping.

(2) I am an engineer, therefore I have a deep love of LOADS OF GAFFER TAPE.

(My transatlantic chums will hopefully have figured out that Gaffer Tape is what we call Duct/Duck tape)

No you haven't, gaffer tape is the manliest adhesive known to man.

I thought this thread was going to be about destroying it on purpose.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Hey Martyn, just curious -- how much (roughly) did you sell it for? I had an urge to pick up one of these even though I really don't need one <_<

Actually, us Trans-Atlantic chums have Duct Tape and Gaffer Tape. Gaff tape is excellent, because it adheres like duct tape, but leaves no crappy residue.

If duct tape is called gaffer tape, what is gaffer tape called?

Pommy: I sold it for £220 - it was a private sale based on an ad I put on the forums at macformat.co.uk. If it was on eBay I'd've set the minimum at £250 to cover the extra hassle.

Steven - I stand corrected :D
