One of these was parked outside my work. At first I thought it was a passenger train, then I was like WTF?

Didn't realize UP was working on new designs...

Anyone else seen one of these?

I wish the line I take, MTA-North, would get some damn new commuter trains. I'm tired of riding in the uncomfortable trains that look like they belong in the 80s (probably they do). They even have the fake wood sidings that were predominate in the decade.

I always forget you live near here. I agree though, those trains are outdated and falling apart. The trains on the West (blue) line are so much nicer.

They even still have the "lowered third seat." I'm not exactly sure why this design was implemented in the first place (I think the designer made a comment many years ago), but it means that the person taking that spot has no head rest (but a metal bar). So damn annoying.
