If you want fun and good games and don't care much about MP, Get the PS2.

If you like ok graphics and like MP games with up to four players, get the cube.

If you like pretty graphics and MP with four players, get the Box.

it's personal prefence, most games you get are cross platfrom now adays with only slight graphical and gameplay diffrences, personaly, I like the PS2 more because of the good controler, the large library of games and thats about it.

Xbox is nice, has nice graphics, but it's library is not quite as large, mind you, it is growing, but they don't have the same quality as the PS2, and like i said, you can get most games for the Xbox on the PS2.

Gamecube, has nice graphics too, But i just don't like it much and don't like the selection of games much...

in conclusion, get a PS2

I can't be arsed to read the rest of the thread, but this is so true it hurts.

Also, get an old magedrive/genesis, micro machines, and a multitap. You'll never look back.

I own all three consoles, and have most of the better games for all three. I would strongly recommend an XBox over a Gamecube. The games are more appealing to me. While most Nintendo fanboys will burn me alive for this, the Gamecube games appeal to a much younger (or wider, depending on how you like to say it) audience than XBox. I would much rather sneak around breaking necks or shooting things than sail around in a boat or trade items with little strange creatures at all hours of the night.

Yeah.

After that, between PS2 X-Box and Gamecube it's purely opinion. Personally I'd suggest not buying a console, seeing as how you're wanting to buy a new comp.

I'm sorry you wasted your money. Seriously, Consoles are a waste of good money unless you have more than enough. I'm glad I got my new computer, instead of the GCN and X-box together, along with pretty much all of the games I could have wanted (What with 1000 dollars and all). Farcry, and this cute little ticket for HL2 that came packaged in the same box as my powerhouse of a PC were well worth the wait, as well as the extra cash, and is going to be far more entertaining for far longer than any of the consoles. I play my PS2 maybe once a week, and if I rent a game, I play about an hour a day. The rest is Massassi, and online games.

Be sure you get the few good games for that system before you waste your money on any of the other crap they try to sell people:
SSBM
Twin Snakes
SoulCalibur 2
The afforementioned zelda titles, minus windwaker.

Ps2>xbox>dreamcast>SNES>N64>NES>GCN

Plain and simple. GCN is a peice of crap. I would just save for more comp stuff, or if I *had* to get a console, I'd get an XBox. I mean c'mon... It's got Halo, Halo2 coming out, Splinter Cell: PT and other greats. I'm sorry you got a GCN I really am. Also, someone mentioned GCN had more features than an Xbox... Uh.. How? GCN has what, one online game? It also dosen't have a hardrive, can't play music or DVDs, Can't play old games (Like the PS2 can which is really funny. No idea why nintendo screw up on this.)

Sorry, Gamecube just rocks.

The X-Box and PS2 are nothing but crappy cheap computers. They all go online and play DVD's and all of this other crap. They aren't CONSOLES. Nintendo is the only company still making a console, while the other people make trashy computers with controller ports. If I want online gaming I'll use my PC thank you, if I want to have just a good time I'll play on a gamecube, a true console and not a computer! For the price you can't go wrong. Why get a PS2 or X-Box? Most (Not all) of the great games on X-Box and PS2 come out on PC eventually. Sure some of the ports aren't the greatest, but it just isn't worth it. X-Box and PS2 have more games then the Gamecube, but the Gamecube has better quality games. Nintendo has always been and still is quality over quanity.

Here are a few of many games that are Gamecube exclusive.

Zelda: The Windwaker
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
Mario Party 4 and 5
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles
Super Mario: Sunshine
Skies of Arcadia: Ledgends (DC port)
Pikmin
Mario Golf
Super Smash Brothers: Melee
Viewtiful Joe
Eternal Darkness
Metroid Prime
Animal Crossing
Tales of Symphonia
Resident Evil Zero
Resident Evil
etc... etc.. etc...

But you might say, "OMG GAMECUBE ONLY HAS GAMES FOR KIDS LOL! THEY ARE ALL RATED 'E' OMFG THEY CAN'T BE FUN!"

First of all Gamecube has games for all ages, but the truth is, most of the games that are for 'kids' are so much fun, and EVERYONE can enjoy them. I have so much fun with Billy Hatcher, I can just play for hours and hours, it's good clean fun without blood and guts and violence and guns. My friends grandfather plays Super Mario: Sunshine and Animal Crossing. Which is more proof that just because it's rated 'E' doesn't mean it can't be fun. But if you want an awesome 'M' rated game, get Eternal Darkness, it really is an awesome game, with amazing controls, unique gameplay, and an awesome storyline that grabs you and just pulls you in.

Bottomline: Nintendo is in the buissness of making consoles and quality games that EVERYONE can enjoy, with the cheap price tag and the awesome games you just can't go wrong.

Congrats on getting the gamecube I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

I hated a good majority of those games. And yes, I've played them ALL with the ecception of Tales of Symphonio. Resident evil is a joke, Mario is over franchised (And poorly supported for what a franchise it is), while the rest are the GCN pilot games.

But with this, I must whole heartedly agree. PS2 and X-box are just wanna-be PCs with old generation ports for controlers. My PC can do exactly what any of those 2 consoles can do (And more). The GCN is far more about quality than quantity. I will be purchasing a GCN for about 5 games, but these 5 games DO make it worth th 70 bucks I should be spending on the entire package.

Still, PC>*

Oh wow... We have to hang out some time! Although let's play Micro Machines V3 from ye olde PlayStation [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

My GameCube was worth the price of admission purely for Mario Kart: Double Dash. Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes is a nice little bonus.

uhm... calling any console a "crappy PC and not a console" is RETARDED and makes you dumber for saying it

when you think of it consoles are all stripped down pcs designed for one purpose but then again so are alot of electronics

and saying your pc can do exactly what a ps2 and xbox can do... can you easily with little effort take your pc to a friend's house? can it play any of the console exclusives? even if you waited for the emulators to actually run games then could you run them from the original disc?

here are the correct answers
1. yes with a laptop no with a desktop (because i said with little effort)
2. not for AT LEAST another year emulators for the current generation of consoles are still in the early stages some games will boot up a very small handful of those are playable on a few systems
3. definately not with xbox... possibly with PS2... PC DVD drives can't read xbox discs properly... not sure about PS2

Now, my computer may not be able to play X-Box games, but any X-Box game I'd actually want to play, is on the PC. Fable is the only title exempt from this.
