Jep, the explosive Gel is your friend man. I set up traps around corners and blow up baddies to smithereens. For instance, in the file room ( with the two guards in the middle) I did two inverted takedowns. Then the bad guys started going back to back so I couldn't sneak up on them. So, I made explosive gel traps on the walls and floors. It was quite fun and the last bad guy standing was completely terrified by the time I took him down.

How many difficulty modes are there in this? Is there an Expert mode like Uncharted had after you beat it, etc?

There are 3 from the get go : Easy, Medium, Hard

I'm unsure if another unlocks afterwards (which seems to be a popular trend lately)

I'm considering starting over tonight on Hard. So far I've been finding the game too easy for my tastes. I wonder how it plays out without the little warning lines over the head of attacking enemies.

That aside, I find myself stopping and intently listening to Joker's every eccentric quip over the intercom. "Whats your greatest fears Batman? Death? Killing? Me in a thong? GYAHAHAHAAHA!"

You never saw the Batman Animated Series from the 90s? GTFO of the forums until you watch some of them. Youtube has certain episodes so there is no excuse.

Don't post here again until you watch some episodes.

I'm rather bored with the game. I'm at the part where Dr. Young gets blown up

While the story itself is interesting and the Joker and Harley Quinn's performances are beyond stellar, the game itself... well its become very repetitive. I think its the limited setting. Its a lot of the same over and over again and I'm honestly sick of crawling through vents. I ended up playing for an hour last night before putting it away, and went to the store to check out other titles. I ended up chit chatting with the girl there for almost an hour. Hot chicks that enjoy video games (even if its only Guitar Hero and Left4Dead) are hot. Of course, this is completely unrelated to the thread. But she's going to come play L4D with me. >.> Thank you boring batman! XD

There are some wonderful touches, anyone else find the poster advertising a gig by Oswald Cobblepot?

1. You haven't seen the animated Batman series with Hamill from the 90's? Whoa.
2. You don't play on hard mode? Whoa.

Suddenly you aren't so hot to me anymore.

I just finished on Normal. I've gotten pretty good taking on multiple enemies at once, so I will play through the Hard mode later on.

I really love this game. I love how the Riddler challenges call out cool little things in the environment (Like the Penguin poster, or the Umbrellas in the Mansion). They don't stick out, things feel really natural, they aced the atmosphere.

I really like how they pushed the detective + Tech angle of batman, and literally bring in every character from the batman universe very seamlessly. It feels very metroidvania, with that upgrade + exploration element that makes the game very fun.

Combat is kind of meh, but the exploration and absolutely spot on atmosphere more than makes up for it.

I do play on hard mode, and beat the game on it. Sold the game back at the store. Sure the graphics and atmosphere and voice acting were spot on, but the game itself grew horribly dull on me.

Haha! Ok I'm kidding. Its pretty good and a world more interesting than WoW, I just can't play it for long stretches without getting bored. And I'll stand by my opinion that the Riddler's riddles are great but the rewards are pure crap. Give me more gadgets, health boosts, shield boosts...not lame 3d model trophies and stupid challenge maps that should have been unlocked from the get go. Give me something that affects the single player campaign, make them WORTH solving for damnit.

Well, the riddles do give you experience, so they do reward you by giving you more points towards upgrades.
2009-09-03, 9:48 AM #59
True enough, but there are so many other ways to get experience. And there really isn't that much to unlock.

Idk, to me they were worth it because they were a quick 200 points that you could build your XP up very quickly with (thus getting the upgrades quicker). Combat would boost it, but those encounters with tons of guards were rarer then just finding 240 riddles
