Wow. This thing...is amazing. My 6800 GT came in, I plugged it in, and when I booted up Doom 3, 1024x768, High detail, 4xaa, 16xaf, I was blown away. Such a difference. Smooth as hell (*snort*), beautiful, just...wow. I can't wait to test out some other games.

Two answers. One: I DESPISE their drivers. Two: I hate the company, but I'm not going to pay more for a worse card (X800 pro, X800 XT is too hard to find for less than 500), just on principles. Principles cost you cash. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

39.2 fps, 4xAA 16xAF, 1024x768 High Detail.

No overclocking, no tweaking of Doom 3 age.

then start tweaking a few good tweaks and my average went from 31.2 to 38.6 7fps isn't impressive but it's better than nothing

Any good suggestions? I'm up for about anything. Only thing is I only have 512 MB of RAM. :\

What CPU are you running? Did you run the timetemo twice or 3 times? Often the 2nd one is a lot higher because it doesn't have to chunk the HD and it's more representative of what you'll get in-game. So do it once, then immediately after, do it again, and give us that score [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

In the DoomConfig.cfg, Change seta image_cacheMegs "*" from the defuault, something like 32, mine was 20. I took it up to 256 and saw a pretty decent fps boost. Also I have just 512mb ram too, and it works.

Antisotropic filtering. It is accessible through the advanced tab under display properties, in your video card settings. I dont know the technical term for what it does, but it makes textures look nicer as they are further off in the distance, and not blur. Something like that...

2036 MHz AMD Athlon XP Thoroughbred, running at roughly 2400+.

And I ran it a few times. Remember, this is 4xaa, 16xaf, 1024x768 on High.

Most recent purchase?

AMD Athlon XP 2500+
512mb Ram
160gig HD
ATi Radeon 9600XT
Sound Blaster Audigy 5.1

That's mostly the heart of my new system. I love it. I just wish Windows would kindly work it's kinks out now. I'm still having minor issues now and then so I can't keep a stable uptime of more than 2 or 3 days. The other computer could run for about two weeks straight before I had to reboot to clear the temp files Windows used for Hibernation.

Went out and bought an ASUS X800 Pro today. I dont care if the 6800 would give me 3 more frames per second, I wanted the ATI card.

It's freaking sweet (I run Quake 3 at Ultra-High detail [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]), there's a very noticable improvement in quality in all games and framerates in most games that I play.

Only complaint is that the fan is REALLY FREAKING LOUD! So loud I'm waiting for the neighbours to come over and complain. Can hardly hear my mp3s when played at night-time volume.

Thankfully I've got the almighty Zalman Heatpipe cooler to bolt to it instead of the jet turbine which is sitting there currently.

The 6800 GT will last past Unreal 3, though. That's the major difference. That and it gives better performance (a helluvalot more than 3 frames).

But hey, to each his own.

Just be sure no one ever calls ME a fanboy again.

SWEET THREAD NECROMANCY IT'S BACK!

I just didn't feel like making a new one, which I personally think you guys will respect. Or hope, rather.

But yes, it's the hotness. Now I just need to find a good monitor for X-Mas. Hrmm.

And Spork--mine came with Commandos 3, Age of Wonders 2, Max Payne, Serious Sam 2, a couple never heard of games, about 7 or 8 different programs, and some other stuff. Pretty much the hotness.

http://www.take2.co.za/product.php?id=18044 the linkage if you want it.

And Jim, I'd be able to bump up the res on everything if my RAM didn't hold me back. 512MB of PC2100 is really slowing me down, both in loading times and in gameplay. Wish I had a gig, or at least some PC3200.

My processor's still fairly good though. 2400+. W00t
