Same here at UMC. It's probably for "security reasons." Read: some moron downloaded a warez file and infected the network at one point.

Yeah, MU has port 6667 blocked. Ask the mods to open up another port, usually 6669.

I wouldnt be surprised if they eventually responded. I registered to have a channel listed on their website, and it took them nearly a year before they actually added it.

You guys should try contacting them together. Let them know that more than one person is having a problem connecting, and they might do something about it sooner.

If you can get somebody who is not behind a firewall, or who can selectively open ports (i.e. a friend or family member back home or something) to install a program called leapfrog, you can fix your problem.
