We have a new idea for a simple gif animationbanner for americanparkour.com, but none of us know how to make GIF animations...

Any help?

Make lots of gifs in paint then use unfreeze, or otherwise make lots of gifs and unfreeze
unfreeze- http://www.whitsoftdev.com/unfreez/

Just use this. You'll win at parkour.

I use unfreez, it's not the best tool since it can't do any optimization though, and you can't set the frame time for individual frames. But there are very few tools you can use.

GIMP does GIFs and has all the options but it's a bit annoying how it does it (frame info is stored in the layer names, frames are layers) but you can optimize it... by hand.

You can also use MNG or APNG for animated PNGs but I don't think either is widely supported (all I know is MNG is the "official" animated PNG but noone uses it AFAIK, APNG is unofficial with better backwards compatibility with PNG and only Firefox supports it AFAIK). So probably best to just use limited GIF for now.

This one is good too [http://images.mzzt.net/animgif/StandBack.gif]

Filters->Animation->Optimize (for GIF)

Also check out GIMP-GAP for advanced features and video importing.
