Old timers: How many times do you think you played Double Cross on Nar Shaddaa?

you can hear it now: the clicky 'equip' noise of the bryar pistol, the garbled gibberish of the gran as he turns to walk away, and that imfamous cantina song starting up. you will never forget this.

also mention other levels of which you have strong memories.
You have no idea of how long it took me to do this.

Falling Ship, that level was awesome and I used to replay it to try alternative routes to get to the end.

Probably somewhere in hundreds, especially since I've usually tested some mods (own and others') by playing through that level.

Even then I kinda remember MotS' first level better because I actually played the MotS demo first, thought it was great and thus got into MotS... and JK. In a sense I'll always favor MotS over JK anyway. Heh.

But I guess this boils down to the levels I enjoyed the most... which would be Katraasii Space Port from MotS and probably Nar Shaddaa in JK... or Fueling Station. Maybe.

I can't really remember at this point, and honestly, no I didn't remember those things. I've turned the page on JK long, long ago.

That line was pretty good but I kind of prefer the one in Baron's Hed "I wish you wouldn't shoot paying customers"

I remember finding Max in 2 places. In the house in Baron's Head, and on the back end of the retracting bridge on the fueling station level. I can't remember if he was anywhere else?

I also remember there being a random AT-ST on the ground of the falling ship level. That was weird.

I didnt know he was in two places ....
I remember him in Dark Forces though. his head was the map on the ice level..

I'm keeping all the most nostalgic parts of Double Cross on Nar Shaddaa on my remake, so that whole opening sequence is still there. ;) And since I'm remaking that level, the amount of times I played it in JK is innumerable. :gbk:
DO NOT WANT.

That level will forever be etched into my memory.

A shame my JK CD has been scratched to hell or something so I can't hear the music in that level anymore... it was always so grand.

That and level 2 were such great levels.

I can still remember all the secret areas too. So that means I've played it far too many times.
Life is beautiful.

Heh, they're just audio tracks. You can playing track 2 - 12 (if I remember right) of the JK cd in a cd player. :) Also, if you load JK with a audio cd in the drive, it will automatically start playing the tracks on the cd as you progress through the levels. (But then all us "old timers" probably know this.)

Also, if the first time you played JK was after MOTS came out, you probably don't qualify as an old-timer...

The last time I played through (which was about February), I got a little of halfway before I quit and was averaging 5 out of 6 or 7 out of 8 secret areas without really focusing on them.

Ah yes, the magical thin line in June 1998 that separates old-timers from newbies... I guess it's better to be a newbie than Sarn_Cadrill :suicide:

Of course, the point of my post was that my computers haven't started playing any CD audio in JK (and Shadows of the Empire on a related note, I got those games around the same time too) for quite many years now, which may have something to do with scratched CDs methinks. I mean, at one point the first Nar Shaddaa level didn't start playing the music from the very beginning but right after you left the cantina. MotS was pretty fine 4 years ago when I played it with a CD the last time. Then again, most modern games don't use CD audio anymore so I don't even like keeping game discs in even for older games so...

Your poll options are completely useless and terrible.

While I've been playing the game since 1998, I must admit that I've only gone through the single-player campaign a handful of times. I've always been more in to playing multi-player. Now, if you want to ask me how many times I've played Battleground Jedi, Bespin Mining Station, Blades of Death, Canyon Oasis, Nar Shaddaa Loading Terminal or Valley of the Jedi Tower, it would be in the thousands. Hell, I used to play multi-player for 4-6 hours each night for several years. I would still do it if I could.
? :)
2009-08-18, 2:49 PM #20
Blades of Death never got nearly enough love, I thought...

With the exception of falling ship, I've probably only played the SP about 5 times. But my play count for falling ship was probably an order of magnitude greater.
2009-08-18, 3:00 PM #21
Agreed. I think that most players simply didn't give it a chance because there were so many gameplay elements crammed in to such a tight map that it was overwhelming until you took the time to learn it. It was easily one of, if not the, most fast-paced LEC death-match maps.
? :)

A smegging bajillion. Far more times than I'd care to admit.
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

Yes editors and testers know that level well!! Although I found that the "Planet Sith" levels are great for testing!

Ingrained even more so is the 1998? PCGamer coconut monkey CD that had MOTS level 2 - asteroid base. OHHH man. It did take me forever to find out how to open the officers door. But then again I was only about 12 at the time ;)

/edit
Agreed on Blades of Death
You should have done the poll about BGJ, with the only options being
1) a bajillion
2) WTF is BGJ
This is retarded, and I mean drooling at the mouth

Alright, now I really really want to play blades of death. Such a great map.

How do I get it working, and who wants to play BoD?

Yea, if I could get JK working on 7, I'd t otally be playing it right now.
I tried on XP, I heard there was a way but I was kinda lazy.

But if someone can tell me an easy way for 7, lets roll.
2009-08-18, 9:08 PM #27
I can do it in my head.
Also Squirrel, just follow the instructions for 64bit in the hub and run with -windowgui.

I never thought Blades of Death was very good, much preferred Nar Shaddaa Loading Terminal if it came to that.

I think my love for level 9 is a bit scary. There are many forums, not even gaming related let alone jedi knight related where my username is fuelstationlaunch. nobody understands!

but yeah level 9 is the greatest thing lec ever did. in my opinion...

Goit, I totally understand. I played through the demo so many times it's not even funny. With a keyboard only! I still remember having so many problems with conc dudes... sheesh.

What Brian and Goit said. I loved Level 9.
I had a blog. It sucked.
