I am looking at this one now (42" LCD). Anything else you'd recommend?

Uh... my tv's on an old end table that was gonna get thrown away.

Actually that's a lie, it's outside on top of some cans.

My TV is on some kitchen cupboard that curiously looks like it was made to have a TV sitting on it. There are shelves on the side that are perfect to store DVDs and on the front there are shelves that are perfect to house DVD-Players or VCRs or whatever. The only thing missing are holes in the back for cables.
Sorry for the lousy German

my tv's on the tv stand that was manufactured for it.

If I had a flat panel TV I'd use a VESA wallmount.

I have a funky ceiling/wall/half-wall setup in my room so a wallmount won't work - not where I want to put it, anyway.

that sucks

I lost my job shortly after I bought my tv so I didn't get a chance to buy the wall mount for it yet. It's sitting on the old stand that used to hold my 32" tube tv. Which was 3x as heavy.

Its an old wooden corner unit thing with 3 shelves underneath it for stuff and tall shelves either side for dvds, cds etc. It has a 30" CRT sitting on top of it. :P
nope.

I still have one of those big *** 47" projection screens, so its just standing on its own built-in case.

I have a stand that looks almost identical. My problem with it is that all the wires show and it looks really messy.

In my dorm room, we put the TV on top of our mini fridge. It worked out well.

Are you just an overly paranoid shopper or is the stand that big a deal? I've got a 50" plasma (if you remember I made a thread about it earlier, btw, so far no problems with it, unless my wife is hiding somethign from me), and I just bought a TV stand along with it from Wal-Mart. It seems to work fine, and I have the option of either resting it directly on the flat surface of the stand, or "hanging" it from the arm that extends in the back of the stand (which is how I have it set up).
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

I don't want to spend $200-300 on one. I was going to get one from WalMart for $99, but they were out of stock...all they had were the expensive ones.
