Game music

Once you have played a game, do you ever hunt round in the install folder for its music?

Right now Im listening to the Doom 3 theme song (it's in one of the pak files, open them up with winRAR, called d3theme.ogg I think).

Ive also got the Praetorians battle music, as well as music and quotes from Serious Sam, and from Lineage 2.

Am I alone?

The following music is win:
Anything from UT2K4.
Anything from Descent II and the Vertigo expansion (Not the midi music, although that owns. I'm talking about the actuall music on the CDs that hardly anyone heard because the redbook audio that descent II was borked. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif])
Metal Gear solid 2
Half-life (Great ambience stuff.)
Rainbow Six
Battlezone

Probably a few others that I can't think of right now.

Call of Duty has some great great music. Metal Gear Solid 2, in my opinion, has the best game soundtrack ever.

MoHAA has some excellent music, as well as UT2k4. Suprisingly, SimCity 4 also has some nice tracks.

If the music is interesting, I'll be looking around the game files to find them.

Like what happened with Deus Ex and many other games.

I have the KotOR soundtrack on my comp right now. Its awesome.

I've been looking everywhere for the Morrowind soundtrack.

I've also got remixes of the entire DF soundtrack, and the original FF7 soundtrack. Several FF series orchestral CDs and pieces as well. (Boston Pops doing the FF7 main theme = win.)

I love the Doom 3 Theme. As soon as I dragged myself away from the game I hunted it down and downloaded it.

I've got a stack of remixes and remakes from the original Doom games that are pretty awesome as well.

Gonk: The Morrowind soundtrack is just a bunch of .mp3's in the games directories. They're not very hard to find. You can put .mp3s into the directories for more variety. Some soundtracks go quite well, and the Itchy & Scratchy theme is great for fight scenes [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Outcast has an exquisite soundtrack. It can be downloaded for free if you look for it. Coincidentally, many of the themes work really well in Morrowind.

The Neverhood has a great soundtrack.

Quake anyone? The original that is. I'd just pop the disc in and hit play. I wish Trent stayed onboard for Doom 3, even though Vrenna did an excellent job for the theme.

I also loved the Q2 music, and to no surprise the Q3a music since Sonic Mayhem did both (though Rob Zombie did the Q2 theme). I never thought to extract any of the Q3a music until now.

You know I didnt really like the Doom 3 theme music at first, but I extracted it, and even though it seems like a rip off of tool (Forty Six & 2, Lateralus), It kind of grows on you, and it doesn't seem that bad anymore. I distinctly here voices at one part in the song... any idea what they are saying [http://forums.massassi.net/html/confused.gif]

Zelda: OoT had some really great music. Too bad I can't hack the RO- doh, I mean -crack open the cartridge to get access to the songs. However, I've taught myself how to play Zelda's lullaby and Saria's Song on the piano. Maybe one day I can actually play the songs without f@$#ing it up. Damn my butter fingers!

I like the Doom 3 theme, even if it is just a Tool rip-off. All of the original Doom's music was ripped-off too, but it's great anyway. And the MGS2 theme rocks.
