Which Star Wars Game/Series felt the most "Star Wars" to you?
2009-08-28, 7:26 AM #1
I am aware that KOTOR isn't on the list. Sorry, my bad.

It be a poll gentlemen. Which Star Wars game actually felt like "Star Wars" to you? What game made it so that you felt like you were in the movies?

These are just the most well known ones, so if you have one that isn't on here, post it.

I will say, however, my favorite game regarding the prequels was Episode 1 Racer. That game is still awesome.

Knights of the Old Republic 1 and the Xwing/TIE-Fighter series.

Since I see no poll yet, I'm going to go with Jawa and Jedi Dress-up Adventures.

EDIT: OK, I'm slow, but my answer still stands.

TIE Fighter for me.

Also, a little TFU. Maybe that's just because it's the most up-to-date graphically, and it features OT stalwarts like Vader

In terms of what felt the most like the movies for me, I had to go with the first few levels of Jedi Outcast.

I have to agree that the TFU's storyline felt very much like star wars. The gameplay itself felt like your typical beat'em'up spiced up with awesomely explosive force powers.

Definitely X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, although I'm sure the older games would too, I just never had a chance to play them.

If you can get it going, TIE Fighter is waaaaaaay better than XvT. I can't comment on X-Wing though - I never played it.

X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter for me, I guess.

Partially because the big moments I liked in the movies were the GRATUITOUS SPACE BATTLES and partially because I love the pew-pew, totally-unrealistic ship-to-ship dogfighting aspect.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Shadows of the Empire for n64!!
2009-08-28, 8:32 AM #14
KOTOR got the closest to making me feel as if I'm actually taking part in SW lore.

This. And Dark Forces. I still remember how weird it was to realize that there aren't any familiar characters from the films in that game or something.

But yeah, SotE definitely.

Hmm... Jedi Knight felt star wars, but in a different darkish strange way. Shadows of the Empire really felt star wars yeah.
Nothing to see here, move along.

X Wing/Tie Fighter/X-Wing Alliance by far.

Also, the phantom menace game wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be, that was pretty "Star Wars" feeling.

I am inclined to say Jedi Knight, but I suspect that's because Jedi Knight defined Star Wars for me more than the movies did.

Republic Commando + E1 Racer, because, and this may be a shock to you, the SW universe is NOT solely composed of Jedi, Sith, bounty hunters, smugglers, high ranking naval officers, elite fighter pilots, high ranking government officials, people with the name Skywalker, and Coruscant.

They felt less like a cheesy action movie and/or crappy video game with big hero characters in generic linear levels and more like parts of a world.

Dark Forces, for me.

Dark Forces, absolutely. I actually enjoyed X-Wing Alliance's storytelling quite a bit, but if I remember correctly, the last few levels kind of mess with the canon, so that deducts some points.

Jedi Knight wasn't as successful for me at recreating Dark Force's Star Wars feel, and JO was even worse.

KotOR made you feel like a Jedi and part of the Star Wars universe more than any other game by far. Trailing behind that, TIE-Fighter and the X-Wing games, as well as DF and JK.

Dark Forces, definitely. I voted for the series but I mean just Dark Forces.
2009-08-28, 2:08 PM #25
Jedi Knight I think got the mix of fantasy and good ol' good vs evil just right.
2009-08-28, 2:25 PM #26
Dark Forces.

Super Star Wars being a close second.
nope.

I have to agree with Commander 598 - Republic Commando really did make you feel doing your part in the SW universe. Good game.

Yeah, I meant the original Dark Forces game, not the entire series.

Although I have to say! Rebel Assault II really had that SW feel as well.

Rebel Assault II and JK had a lot going for them because of the live cutscenes.

I loved Rebel Assault... but I hated it at the same time. Changing the whole story around.
