Metroid Prime Trilogy

I have to say, this is one excellent package. Not only is the case, poster, and booklets top notch, but 3 games (one of which is still fairly new) for $50 is a good deal. All games have been modified to 16x9 and the wii controls were added. As well as minor gameplay modifications to go along with the new controls.

I'm a huge metroid fanboy, but this set is worth it if you enjoy the series at all. 10/10 from me.

Something I've been unable to easily find clarification on: does "wii controls" include wii zapper controls, or just the sort of controls found on Metroid Prime 3? Because if includes the latter, I'm definitely selling my copy of MP3 for the MP Trilogy.

I assume it's the same controls as MP3. Since I have no money I cannot get MP Trilogy yet.

Same controls as MP3.

They changed some of the scans in Prime 1 to fit the overall story better, and they dumbed down a lot of the earlier hints. It's awesome, though. Probably the only game in the universe that's actually better with the Wii's controller instead of being horribly encumbered by it.

I loved the first two MPs (although I still need to acquire a copy of MP2 for myself), but I haven't been able to play MP3 yet.

Ooh yeah, I vaguely recall that the story overall matched up, some of the little details didn't. Well it would be neat to go through and see what's different.

Anything else worth noting in difference in MP1 and 2 between the GC and Wii versions?

They made a couple boss battles in MP2 easier, one of them was the one I quit playing on too. So I'm looking forward to being able to move on and play MP3, which I havent done yet, even though I own the single copy.... :(

Normal mode in Trilogy = Easy mode in CG versions. But you are still offered 3 difficulty settings. Just choose Veteran because Normal is way too easy.

The story overall in the trilogy still doesn't make much sense, but I think that's due to the fact that they didn't plan it as a trilogy. Or the writers are bad at it. For the first game, they did remove the plot point of Metroid Prime running around despite the game stating that it has been locked away. The package comes with an art booklet that clears... some things up.

Changes I noticed:

-Bloom lighting for the first 2 games. It's subtle which I like because I think in MP3 they overdid it in some parts.
-Disabled some sequence breaking aspects. I don't really care at all but some people are crying over it.
-Upped the texture quality. Places look a bit crisper but it's hard to notice because you can't compare directly. GC versions do look rather blurry if you put it side by side.
-Load times are significantly shorter in first 2 games compared to GC.
-Certain PAL additions/changes are added. For example, you meet Fission Metroids much earlier in the first game.
-Some Echoes bosses are easier.
-Chozo Ghosts take 1 super missile to take down now. But they are still ****ing annoying because they spawn everywhere.

With free aim, it's much easier to take down certain enemies now that you can lead your shots. Remember the invisible robot sentry in Phazon mines that you couldn't lock-on to? Now he's easy. In fact, any enemy that can disengage your auto-locking before in the GC version can be finished off with ease.

I like Echoes the most of the 3, which seems to be a rare sentiment among fans. Felt like the developers took more of a creative initiative despite relying on some horrendous moments of back-tracking, item searching and other face-palming flawed ideas.

I only played the first Metroid Prime game, but did they really ramp the difficulty up on the sequels or something? I don't remember any part of the first game where I really struggled, apart from replaying the Ridley boss fight once because I was severely depleted after beating him the first time (not sure why exactly, I think I might have wasted too many rockets and wanted another crack), and a couple of areas where I was getting picked away at by Space Pirates over and above the usual minor hits in the rest of the game.

MP3 is easy. MP2 introduced a world where health is depleted by just standing in the atmosphere, so it's more annoying.

GC controls were terrible, I'm starting to like the wii controls, played a couple hours of MP1 last night. Good memories.

Put the sensitivity on "Advanced" to get the most out of it.

For aiming and actually LOOKING around, the Wii controls work great. Not so much for selecting different weapons/visors, I keep choosing the wrong things during the heat of battle. The Wiimote doesn't have enough buttons.
