I clicked on the Featured article, which was KAAAAAAHN from Star Trek, and someone had put the picture as the bad goat picture.

I clicked edit - deleted the line with goat bad thing in it, and away it went!

I HAVE THE POWER.

I edited Wikipedia for the first time too the other day (correcting some typo), it felt weird and awesome.

I've been editing it in small amounts for years. I wrote an article on Diary of a Crazed Mimbanite but some elitist wikipedians deleted it. :argh:

I think I've made some edits, normally during research and coming across typos or what have you.

I know I got a temporary ban for Cody Coker graffiti when that was all the rage, though. Should have made it less obvious, I suppose.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

I've never edited it. I've heard your first time is always awkward.

I've got that whole thing archived. Is the original site still up?

I edit stuff every so often.

Though I do have one small bit of misinformation that I added a long time ago and it's still there. :carl:
nope.

There's elitist mods on Wookiepedia as well, had a big fight with a couple of them because they kept reverting changes with no explanations.

What were the changes?

i added something to the article on the Klein Bottle about a reference in popular culture, correctly linking the author and book, both of which have their own articles, but was removed 1 minute later for being non-notable.

the entire section of references in popular culture has since been removed entirely.

:carl: You should have restored the original picture.

Click on History, and each revision has an "undo" link. Click it and poof, vandalism gone in less effort it took to create.

It was an EXTRA picture - I should've said. The picture of the actor as KAAAAHN was still at the top right - this was a 500x500 ish picture shoved in above the introductory paragrapgh.

I sort of vandalized the I know it when I see it article earlier today. The vast majority of my Wikipedia edits are tremendously unhelpful.

I was just looking up when the second half of the 4th season of Battlestar Galactica was to be aired in German. Then I realised that I had been the one who added the date to the Wikipedia article.
Sorry for the lousy German

I had a student last year who boasted of changing wikipedia articles and adding stuff about Hitler to MLK's pages and stuff. I pointed out that it wasn't cool and he did little more than small time vandalism.

Inside though, I was seething.

You should have told him that editing displays the editor's IP address to the world (leave out the part where he can register an account to hide his IP address).

I didn't have any idea. I've never registered myself.

Yesterday I was trying to find where 'mod' belongs in the order of operations in math... so I went to wikipedia

where somebody posted the following mathematical operations:
3-[5-(7+1)]^2 * (-5) + 3
3-(5-8)^2 * (-5) + 3
3- (-3)^2 * (-5) + 3
3 - 9 * (-5) + 3
3 - (-45) + 3
3 - (-42)
3 - (-42) = -45

I was like: huh... this isn't right, right...
I hesitated for a moment, edited it, and felt the POWER!

IIRC modulo is on the same order as multiply and divide.

[Edit: Yeah that's what the article says.]

2009-09-05, 2:24 PM #23
I once edited the article about some obscure Canadian film where someone had changed the names of all the actors to be "Cocky McCrapballs", "Penis von ****head", etc. I admit it was pretty amusing.

BODMAS:

Brackets
Order
Divide
Multiply
Addition
Subtraction

Is what I was taught. <_<

you're completely right, the problem is however, that some of the lesser known mathematical operations (like modulo) aren't present in these mnemonics...

and I needed to know them because I'm programming a calculator...

I totally rewrote the Sith Engine article on Wikipedia. Some retard had written something about JK supporting "N64-level antialiasing" and not having "per-color transparency" some other crap.
2009-09-06, 3:47 PM #36
Well, the engine does look much like an N64 game, The second part im not sure where he got that.

Hahaha I looked at the history: "It does not support per-color transparency, and has a Nintendo 64 level of anti-aliasing."

hahah
