I'm ill at home and have been entertaining myself by asking random questions to people. This is the most debated one so far - and probably the most least PC so I can post it here.

The Situation: You're walking along the side of a road when you notice a baby in the middle of the road and a truck coming towards it. You know, somehow, that if you saved the baby you would definatly get your legs trampled by the truck.

Do you...

A - Save the baby but lose the use of your legs forever.

Or

B - Don't save the baby and live with the guilt, but still be able to use your legs.

Probably B.

I like my legs.
nope.

As selfish as it is, if I absolutely knew somehow that I would lose the functionality of my legs forever upon saving this baby, I wouldn't do it.

Though if faced with that situation in real life I'd probably attempt to save the baby, because I probably wouldn't be calculating the chance of my legs being run over in that instant.

Damn... probably A, then I could get bionic legs and kick everybody's ***.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Yeah, I'd go for the baby.

baby.
I'm proud of my life and the things that I have done, proud of myself and the loner I've become.

Same, as much as I'd like to not think I'd do the first part.

Is it a cute baby or an ugly one?

Ugly, it's a baby.
nope.

I'd rather live with no legs than live with that image burned in my mind the rest of my life and the guilt that came with it.

But then again, what if that baby grew up to be the next charles manson, or BTK killer? or even worse,

the next carrot top?

Would you rather have your mum walk in on you pleasuring yourself, or walk in on your mum pleasuring herself?

My answer to this kind of surprised me, but it was my immediate response and it is hasn't changed now that I've thought about it more:

B.

I intend to use my life to help and maybe save as many people as I can. If I save one baby (especially at this point in my life) KNOWING that I'll lose my legs and not be able to save or help anyone else ever again, I think that's not a good plan.

However, that's only if I KNOW that I am guaranteed to lose my legs. If there is any chance at all that I'll escape with less permanent injuries, then I think I'd probably go for it. Who really knows, until they're in that situation, though?

I'd not save the baby, but also not be effected by guilt. Where the hell was the mom, and who made it my duty to save it?

And why didn't the truck try to stop?

Even if you didn't save the baby you'd have the vision of a baby being trampled by a truck. Could you live with yourself?

C. Save the baby and get out of the way with the truck missing my legs by less than 1 second.
