fan-****ing-tastic!

I've been under the impression that something like this was going to happen, but it may have just been wishful thinking. The premise sounds great, can't wait for it. (Though it probably won't be out over here for about 10 years!)

What's Clerks?
2004-08-28, 5:45 AM #5
HELL.****ING.YES.

I figured Smith would make another Askewniverse movie eventually, but this is awesome. And with Clerks X coming out the Sep. 7, it's a VERY good time to be a Kevin Smith fan.

I think so Echoman, exploring the later stages of these guy's lives should be really interesting.

Wolfy - the first was $27,000, and this one's gonna be between $250,000 and $5m.

Yeah, since i read the annoucne ment that's something i've been thinking about too. A story of Dante and Randal in color would just feel a little bit wierd . . . but who knows.

Clerks is the only Kevin Smith movie I haven't seen. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

Yes, Jay and Silent Bob are in it! Smith said he retired the characters with "Strike Back".

not really. as he said, it's just to allow a normal filming situation and to be able to pay the actors. with the completely ridiculous costs of filming most things these days, it seems pretty reasonable.

mmmm, not really, but they feel that if they can make a sequel, slap the name "Clerks2" on and have the Clerks Franchise come back, they can make some more money :/

Not at all. That's nowhere NEAR Kevin Smith's style. No, he's probably got a good idea for this one.

I really don't care if this is only a last-ditch scheme to make money (which I don't believe). As long as I can get an hour and a half of Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson in a convenience store harrassing customers and making cheesy pop-culture references, I'll be content.

"Salsa Shark . . . I think we're gonna need a bigger boat" [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]
In the news post on www.newsaskew.com about this, Smith mentions in particular that Anderson was hesistant about the idea at first, but after going through the full concept and script he did think it was worth doing. And somehow based on that alone, I have great faith in the movie.

bwahaha yes. i do the salsa shark everytime we have salsa.

as for the clerks sequel, awesome. although i guess this means clerks:sell out(animated series style full-length movie) is canned? i know it was like... set to be in theaters in 2002, pushed back to 2004, and now it seems too late for it to ever be made, now with a live action one being made. ah well. i would rather prefer live action to the cartoon. both would be awesome, though.

No the animated movie isn't canned, but its not gonna be in theaters. I was at a Q&A that Smith did in Chicago [correction] 3 weeks ago, and he mentioned that an animated movie is still planned, it looks like the writing of the animated movie IS taking a back seat to The Passion of the Clerks and Green Hornet. The animated movie and any other animated projects would be direct to video releases.

He still believes that he's not completely sure about directing Green Hornet. He doesn't know how well he could handle action.
