Is there a device I can use to connect a firewire device through ethernet or any other port that might be on a pc laptop?

You can get a USB Firewire Adapter, or more cost effective would be to use a cardslot adapter. Either PCMCIA or Express depending on the age of the notebook.

yeah but i need something that can transmit a high definition video signal without delay.... and as far as i know... usb cannot do that.

Sucks not having firewire. I actually only use it for my backup drive, and even that is pretty slow, USB is even slower. Do you have one of those newer macbooks with no firewire or what?
