Not impressed until you fire a 105mm out the side of an AC-130U. :colbert:

How do you reload that thing? Does the entire box come off the side?

That "box" is the ammo tray. It's part of the mount. There's a door in the front of the ammo tray, you open it up, stick the ammo box in there, then run the linked rounds up to the feeder at the top of the ammo tray. Then you use that little wheel on the side to push the ammo through the feeder tube to the gun.

The gun itself fires semi-auto or auto.

Way cool. With guns like that, I have to wonder what the heck the bad guys are thinking and why they would flirt with such danger.

the rounds needed to be expended (heat issues in the gulf and gunpowder breaking down if being exposed to high temps for a long time). and we needed to be qualified.

You would prefer your nation's defense resting in the hands of people who have never handled the weapons they're given?

you know, i'm pretty sure someone would notice if I tried that... also, i wouldn't be able to do it by myself. parts of that gun are really heavy (i've helped disassemble once for maintenance).

Paying for Sarn to blast the sea to pieces is one of the few things I fully agree with supporting with federal money, so this makes me happy. I just wish I had one of my own to play with.
