Most packages of ground beef you find in supermarkets were made on premises, usually from good quality cuts of meat that were too small to sell as steaks or stew chunks.

The problem, just like with salmonella-contaminated eggs, e-coli-contaminated tomatoes and melamine-contaminated baby formula, is irresponsible and ethically vacuous huge corporations.
