Death in the family
2009-10-06, 5:25 AM #1
Yesterday morning, I received word that one of my older sisters, Laura passed away. She was 28 years old, and is leaving behind two daughters, Faith Elizabeth (age about 9 or 10 and autistic) and Grace Rebecca (age about 5).

Laura had epilepsy, and while we're unsure on the details, we believe she may have had a siezure while taking a bath and drowned. She was found by her boyfriend in the bath tub. He was in the house while she was bathing, and when he knocked on the door, she didn't answer. He became worried and picked the lock on the bathroom door and found her already dead. An autopsy was or is being performed, but the official results are not expected for a few weeks at least.

The future of her two daughters is unsure, but because they had seperate dads, there is a possibility that they will be seperated. I will keep you all updated as more information becomes available.

Meanwhile, I was notified of her passing by the American Red Cross, and have been granted emergency leave to return to the States to attend the funeral and visit with my family. I'm currently sitting on base in Bahrain, and am taking a flight out in the middle of the night.

I request that all of you keep my family in your thoughts and prayers as we go through this difficult time. My mother seems to be taking it extremely hard. Also, as the fate of the two girls is undecided, keep them in your prayers as well.

Thank you all.

Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

I've spent about 17 hours in the air in what seems like one morning to me. I'm tired and grumpy and sick of planes... Got 3 more flights to get home... Probably another 7 hours or so total. This last one was the worst. London Heathrow to LAX. Took about 11 hours. Andrea's in Spokane now hanging out with my other sister. I can't wait to be home. These last 48 hours have been miserable.
