I'm back

I never thought I'd be writing one of these, but after 3 weeks, to this day, my PC is back online. My mom broke the PC so bad, we had to reformat the PC and start from scratch. Luckily I managed to save most of our major files and photos, and by that, I mean everything I have including bookmarks, and some of my mom's stuff (I forgot her bookmarks).

It's funny. When I break my PC, it takes a day or two to fix. When she breaks it, its gone for a month and in the shop.

I assume "broke" meaning physical damage?

Welcome back. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

[I guess one wouldn't reformat if the comp is damaged. heh]

She erased a DLL file that you use to connect to the internet. We could only reformat to fix the PC. Personally I love it. More space, and all that clutter is gone.

Reformatting took 3 weeks?

Because he paid 70 bucks and sent it to a shop. This is foolish. You can reformat your own PC for free, and quite a bit faster. As well, you can control the level of format. I used to know a guy who did that for a living, but would first recover everything before reformatting, just in case the virus were sitting somewhere in a normant cell. Do you want the people at the shop looking at your hard earned [read: stolen] porn? I know I wouldn't.

Close but no cigar.

My mom broke it. For the first week I tried to fix it myself, but the reformatting proved useless because I could not even make a start up disk, and the old one was broken. Windows wouldn't let me do it. The second week my mom just let it sit there and then finally took it in. It took a week to fix, because after CompUSA fixed it, they discovered a problem and wouldn't call us to ask. We called them to find what was wrong. The new modem would put in for our DSL was causing a problem, and so we had to take them the software to get that working.

And besides, I backed everything up that should be backed up.
