My friend gave me a CD of his band which contains two demos in FLAC format. Granted its an easy conversion if each song is a FLAC file and I can convert them, but each demo is one large FLAC file.

What is the best way to go about getting individual tracks for each demo? Is there a way with this file format to seperate them using a program or do I have to convert the entire file to mp3 and seperate them manually using audacity? :suicide:

is it just the flac files? any cue sheets included? possibly even embedded into the flac file (open it in a media player that supports embedded cue sheets (like foobar) and if one is present it will show up as multiple tracks)

Convert to .wav, cut into two pieces with your favorite audio editing tool, convert two resulting files back to FLAC, profit?

Yeah it came with two notepad files. My main point is to convert them into mp3's. I just want to avoid having to manually chop the files apart.

did these notepad files look anything like this (there may or may not be TITLE and PERFORMER lines mixed in as well)

Code:
FILE "heimdall-hard_as_iron.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 01 AUDIO
    INDEX 00 00:00:00
    INDEX 01 00:02:00
  TRACK 02 AUDIO
    INDEX 00 05:07:10
    INDEX 01 05:09:15
  TRACK 03 AUDIO
    INDEX 00 11:23:55
    INDEX 01 11:25:39
  TRACK 04 AUDIO
    INDEX 00 16:45:73
    INDEX 01 16:48:00
  TRACK 05 AUDIO
    INDEX 00 21:35:00
    INDEX 01 21:36:59
  TRACK 06 AUDIO
    INDEX 00 26:53:43
    INDEX 01 26:55:25
  TRACK 07 AUDIO
    INDEX 00 34:44:68
    INDEX 01 34:46:48
  TRACK 08 AUDIO
    INDEX 00 40:17:00
    INDEX 01 40:17:03
  TRACK 09 AUDIO
    INDEX 00 44:15:10
    INDEX 01 44:16:67

Yep, something very similar.

Yeah use that file in an editor that supports .cue files. Or just cut the music yourself at the indicated times.
