W00t (first story sale)!!!

Just got a $70+ (not bad for 1,500 words!) contract from Abyss & Apex for my flash story "The Chinese Chef Was a Hologram."

A very very very early draft was posted in Showcase (though obviously the story had since then been re-written). I've removed the draft due to copyright issues, but you should be able to read the story in the mag in November!

My first sale. Feels great. Hopefully, there will more to come! :)

Thanks, dudes! :D

On a completely unrelated note, I highly recommend everyone to check out 2007's Hugo Winner, Tim Pratt's "Impossible Dreams" over at Escape Pod.

For those who never heard of Escape Pod, it's a free weekly podcast where they do a new Sci-Fi story every week (most of them by relatively established writers, so the quality's generally rather good).

It really is a wonderful story.

Yeah, but my secret plan of doom is to compensate for my lack of inborn talent with leveling up the skillzorz points. Not that I have a lot ATM, but I'm working on it, I'm working on it. :D

You got an unsolicited scifi story published? Nice job. Getting your first story accepted is the hardest part.

Congrats! If I'm not crazy, I remember you posting short works on a Massassi ezboard spinnoff like 6 years ago...

Congratulations!

Thank youf or announcing this, I've actually been looking into some different publishers for a few things I've written.

Great job and continue writing! It's always nice to see someone ascend from the ranks of dreamers to the ranks of achievers.

Poo, I was hoping you had just deleted the thread so I could still read it. :(

Congrats anyway!

Be sure to check out http://www.duotrope.com - it's an invaluable publishing resource.

It was only a draft anyway, Vin. The final version should be up on Abyss & Apex's site next month.

BTW, Abyss & Apex previously featured stories by kick-*** writers like Tim Pratt (who won the 2007 Hugo Award against none other than Neil Gaiman), Mercurio Rivera, and Jay Lake.

These guys are so many levels above and beyond awesome that I wouldn't even dream to compare.
