http://machinarium.net

I'm buying this in approximately 20 minutes when I hit my lunch break. There's a flash demo on the website. It works on OSX and Windows and even ze Linux.

Review from Ars Technica above - their verdict was a firm Buy.

I played about 5 minutes of the demo and was hooked :)

Wow this is awesome, buying it now on steam

It's sloooow to download. I hope that's because it's popular :)

I skimmed the review on Ars this morning and knew I'd be picking it up. Thanks for posting it here, Martyn.

Man, I played the demo. That game is awesome. I love his little daydreams if you just leave him doing nothing. It's so cute.

Due to organising a replacement screen for my laptop (dead pixel) I only played it for about half an hour last night, but I can tell it is going to be NAILS.

Looks more "9" inspired then anything. I like the ambient music though.

But how long does it typically last? 3 hours? Trying to see if it would be worth $20 though. I missed the sale when it was $15.

About 6-8 hours according to comments on the Ars Technica article. I imagine it will take longer if you don't give in to the hint system... <_<

Does the release support various languages or english only?

If it supported french I've get a copy for my girlfriend. She loves point and click adventure games. She adores Grim Fandango.

There's no dialogue Jep - you just see thought bubbles with FGR-esque pictures of what a character is thinking. :D

That is ****ing awesome.

Count me in on this little gem!

Are the system requirements high or is it just flash based?

It's flash based.

Cool game but very short, only lasted me 3-4 hours.
Still, I prefer that to the impossible point and clicks where you have to do bizarre things to move on.

Which means the system requirements are high, until Flash 10.1 :P

Well OK my computer is old and any attempt to run a Flash thing with any amount of detail above "Homestar Runner" level is slow.

How to you break the ****ing wire to get the owl to fall and collect the missing puzzle piece in order to electricially charge the fence?

I bob up and down and the god damn ****ing wire won't snap and its pissing me off.

**** I thought I was dumb for not getting the f**king owl to break the wire...

Have you read the book/hint thing? I'm still right at the start :(

are you mocking me or are you stuck there as well?

and unfortunately the book just tells me to bob up and down. I've watched the video walkthrough on youtube of the exact part thinking I might be missing something but the player did it just fine. I don't get it. I'm doing the eexactly same thing and the only thing that is happening is my carpal tunnel is getting worse....

on a side note: flash 10 games on an older computer = fail

Maybe your timing is off? You should be watching the position of the wire so the owl get's maximum bounce

Thats a possibility. The game runs really choppy on my computer, especially in that particular area.

So far I've found two points in the game where if you screw up, you are completely stuck with no solution.

First being the claw area and the second being the sewer if you have the wrench unscrew the cap before fishing out the other valve.

I've had it with this god damned game.

I've just spent the past ****ing half hour moving up and down and the god damn owl will not fall. It happened once but I screwed up the sewer part so I had to start again from my last save point. I don't understand why this particular part is so sensitive but I am doing it the exact same way everyone else is and I get nothing.

**** this game I'm done with it.

Hey onimusha, if you don't want it, I'd gladly play it, and then I'll tell you the secret to that area once I discover it. I'd really like to be able to play this game.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Great find. I love the art work & the ambient music. I think I'll be getting the OSX version.

The same studio seems to have several fun games like this. You can see all of them here if you go to the 'Flash Games' section. My favorite, other than "Machinarium" is probably "Samorost 2" (1 is great too but very short).
? :)
