So I just got in from work and I was sitting watching some Standup Comedian on tv when he mentioned Court and I remembered about a Jury Citation I was sent about a month ago. After some rummaging for the letter, apparently I was meant to be in court for Jury Duty a week ago. I'm going to get fined! (probably)

Anyway, post stupid things that you've done lately. :neckbeard:

Yeah, usually students can get waived if they are away at school. They call you again during the summer though.

I'm sure if you contact the court, explain what happened, and offer to be placed in the selection process for the next case, they'll understand and you won't be penalized.

I did the exact same thing a few weeks ago. I entirely forgot I had duty. I only remembered because one of other guys in the office was out that morning - he had jury duty too.

Applications for excusal from teachers or students during term time, and particularly during exam periods, should be deferred in the first instance. Paragraph 4 (above) applies.

Ok you were late getting back to them, but a deferral until summer would've been fine, and if you need summer work, you'd be deferred until you graduate.

Unless freaky scottish law applies :P

When I got jury duty paperwork, I checked the "request postponement" box every time and listed "school" as the reason.

I did that every 6 months for 2-2.5 years.

Then I graduated and got asked again, I had no valid excuses. Luckily I didn't get chosen that year.

Then a year later (see: 2 weeks ago) I got picked for a 2-day trial. It was interesting.
This signature agrees with the previously posted signatures. To violate previously posted signatures is a violation of the EULA for this signature and you will be subject to unruly behavior.

My dad got a summons from district court a few weeks ago. He got our family doctor to write an excuse so he didn't have to go. Last week he got one from small claims court. Seems like they really want my old man for jury duty.

You don't get "excused" for being a student, you get a postponement. They call you again when you're home from school. You aren't the first student ever to get called for jury duty.
