I don't know if anyone on Massassi is opld enough to remember this movie (I know I'm not) but after visiting the starwars.com website recently I found the link to it.

It's a very weird website, but the movie looks really cool. I don't know if anyone's already posted this, sorry if they have. Anyway, it looks like a cross between Equilibrium, Blade Runner, 2001 A Space Odyssey, Minority Report and several other films I can't think of right now.

It's being re-released in theatres and is also having two DvDs coming out, an original and a "Director's Cut" - I just hope George doesn't screw it up like he's done with Star Wars. For more info, search for it on www.imdb.com Here's a link for the changes mdae in the special edition - http://www.davisdvd.com/bin/extras3.html

To put it simply: This movie is very ahead of it's time.

Banks and banks of humming machinery! I've never seen so many knobs. We're going to have to do something, Charlie! Try pushing that button there. No? How about that one? No, not that one either. I know! I'll try pushing this one. Hold my hat will you? Good fellow.

I'm surprised GL could actually do something to improve the movie, the effects actually enhance the quality of the picture, not just redundant additions. I can't wait for the director's cut, I'm interested to see what Rated R and Lucas will bring, perhaps it will help for Lucas to portray his "darker" future even better than it already was.

It's sad because Lucas poured every bit of energy and time into this movie, and the critics dismissed as some weird, depressing sci-fi movie with bad acting.

Since then, George Lucas has always ignored reviews from critics, saying a person pours every bit of him into a movie that takes years to finish, and critics write a couple sentences judging the whole thing. He essentially said to hell with reviews from that point forward.
