Wow, not just old newz, but 1978ish news.

Well, the story sorta goes that Lucas let the networks convince him that it should be a variety show, even though variety shows were on their way out.

And I think drugs were involved.

It's obvious liquor is involved.

And there's a cartoon.

I've seen the whole thing.

And there is no way it could be canon. Nothing is consistent.

Considering Kashyyk is canon and it came from the Holiday Special, I assume it's Canon.

As far as I know he wanted it to be pulled but it was too late but he did manag to get his name out.
