Is this legal?

So my friend got one of the new android based Sprint phones. And he downloaded an app called caller id faker, or something like that.

Anyway it gives you the ability to call someone with a bogus phone number showing up on caller ID.. any number you want.

So anyway he said he was trying to prank call me. He entered my phone number as the bogus number, but instead of it calling me, it went straight into my voicemail.

That's a pretty big security hole if you ask me.

This holiday logo at the top happened to be the 'I have felt your presents' one, and then the very next thing I saw was this thread, 'Is this legal?' :XD:
DO NOT WANT.

Did it go straight to your voicemail or prompt for entering a PIN? If it was the latter I don't see it as a security concern but the legality seems dubious.

It only asks for a PIN if I call from a number that is not my cellular. Apparently it went straight into my voicemail box, I'm going over to his house here in a few to straighten this out, and to see it for myself.

It's possible. But there is an option in your voicemail to require the PIN no matter what, if you're worried.
