My friends laptop (see other thread) has been having an issue, and I'd like to try to help him fix it since it will be his only means for entertainment while in the hospital for who knows how long...
Basically, from what I can tell, his machine is not clearing the memory like it should be. He has 4GB of memory, and as soon as he starts the machine up, windows loads up and everything fine, but you can bring up the task manager and just watch the memory slowly drop all the way to about 40, then it runs like crap until he tries to do something heavy enough that the machine locks up. We've already checked for spy/ad/mal/virus wares, clean. I've already gone through his processes and dumped anything that even looked remotely unnecessary, no good.
Basically, at this point, I think he should format (he's probably due for one anyway...) and if it still does it after that, then its a hardware issue, maybe motherboard/memory I dunno.
I seek the collective wisdom that is the Massassi Temple Tech Support.
