Thread Hall of Fame Forum
2009-11-14, 8:29 AM #1
Hey Massassi, I was just thinking today about some old threads that we've had here that were hilarious or just really cool. I'm not sure if the idea has ever been proposed before, but a lot of forums have a Hall of Fame section for their best threads. I was thinking if we wanted to do this we could add a feature where you could click a button on a thread to cast your vote for it being a Hall of Fame thread and after receiving X amount of votes it would automatically be put in there, pending an Admin's approval, of course.

I know there are often times where I try to remember old threads that I thought were amusing or interesting and I always hate having to search through the forums to find them. I'm sure we could do this many different ways, but I'm just curious what you all think.

Massassi doesn't get pruned. As long as it existed on the vBulletin forum at some point, it'll still be there.

Specifically, all Discussion Forum threads predating December 2003 have been pruned as well as all Showcase threads from before May 2003. The original Forum of Juztyn and various other "secret forums" are all lost in time as well.

Everything else's still here.

Well how do you guys feel about having a Hall of Fame type of forum with the threads we still have access to? Threads dating back to 2003 are almost 7 years old at this point, so we still have quite a collection to choose from.

I'd much rather prefer a hall of fame for levels :P

Oh ok, that's what I was thinking of. I remember the prunning from before 2003.

Yeah, UBB would start freaking out if the system got too big. Mostly because it was a flatfile system.

It's funny you say that. I was thinking "That doesn't look right" thinking it was right.

You don't still have the HTML threads anymore do you?

Sort of. They're not exactly easy to browse. The index pages are all ruined by that virus that hit a loooong time ago.

Most of the HTML threads were imported to VB in 2004. Brian couldn't figure out how to import the original Forum of ****** and some other closed forums (SWG Forum comes to mind... ... heh, SWG Forum) so they only remained as HTMLs. However, I don't think any of those HTML threads have been accessible since that worm attacked us in early 2005ish.
