If I just used BO people would say I'm being racist by making an issue out of the body odor of people like him. Pretty funny that I'm being accused of doing pretty much exactly what the president does with his middle name in that he constantly uses it to differentiate himself from [typical white people] and show commonality with certain groups.

Yes, northern progressive politicians do rather enjoy demonstrating their tolerance of or participation in other cultures. I imagine this would indeed be a jarring contrast to the southern conservative political ideal you prefer where political victory is handed to those who are the closest to the stereotypical plantation owner or texan rancher.

The problem with Republicans these days is that you let labels define your criticisms. He's a liberal, so he's a ****up in your eyes. Nothing Obama does will ever be good enough for you and that's just the way it is. It wouldn't matter if he created world peace... he'd still be a pinko commie liberal.
It's an idea that's rooted in southern politics. I brought it up in the chat room a few days ago. Stat (I think) mentioned that it's because of the reconstructionists, but I believe the tendency originates far earlier than that: during the Civil War there was a fear of white-armed black thugs rising up against their wives and children while they were at war, leading up to the Civil War "northern agitators" were blamed for most social problems in the south, and since the dawn of the "southern way of life" they'd periodically scour the countryside looking for communities of escaped slaves to slaughter.

There's a deep, black, festering core of ethnocentrism, eugenics and xenophobia in modern American conservative politics. It's the root of the "you're either with us or against us" rhetoric: if you aren't with the Americans, you're with the terrorists. If you want to teach black kids and white kids evolution in the same classroom you're against the southern way of life. It's a very polarizing attitude, and that's why you see so many people like Wookie06 unironically calling Obama a "communist fascist atheist muslim hippie terrorist racist oreo" - because everybody who is against the southern way of life is the same. "Communist" and "liberal" mean the same thing to them.

Strom Thurmond is a great example of southern politics at work. "Black Struggle, Red Scare" is a great book if you're interested in learning more about how and why southerners think communism, free speech and social change mean the same thing as "Hitler."

I hope this was informative and will help you all understand what Wookie06 is truly saying.

So just use the name "Obama" or "The President"?

As illustrated earler, many presidents are referred to by their initials. Funny, though, WJC doesn't seem to work well as you allude to.

But I don't dismiss you because of where you are from. I dismiss your views because they are obviously a result of your sense of enlightenment based on whatever societal or cultural difference which bias your views of American Conservatism. Case in point, every time you disagree with me on an economic issue you generally agree with the smaller, relative, point I make such as carrying credit card balances or purchasing and financing new vehicles both being poor personal financial decisions. I would treat your views differently if you cared to openly debate with the rational concessions that should be given to valid points of agreement intrinsic to your opponents argument. Instead, you simply care to make dismissive and condescending remarks while implying that your view is that of every enlightened intellectual worldwide.

Two out of the three were. Still, it is stupid to infer that I am using his initials for said reasons when he uses his full name all the time. If I were going to try to use his name in a negative way I would say, B. Hussein Obama.

I'll just use that from now on.

Aha. Of course, you conveniently ignore the fact that we are all a product of the prevalent views of our own cultures, so you really are dismissing my views because of where I am.

Keep trying to find a way to make it sound better though, I'm sure you'll figure something out.

Edit: Yes, I am the northern agitator ITT.

Edit 2: By the way, if you're interested in an American opinion on southern politics you should consider reading "Black Struggle, Red Scare." It was even published in Baton Rouge so you can be pretty sure it doesn't reflect the opinions of those dern fascist commie carpetbaggers. Unless the author is black.

Oh come now. You know I don't care how well any of my points sound. It's not worth the effort. But I'm far from the only one here that has noticed just how absurdly leftist many of your arguments are. I really don't understand how a truly intellectual person could be so absurdly left of center. It really is strange because you so often come across as a person with a good understanding of certain issues.

To a conservative, the actual contents of any argument is irrelevant. A 'debate' hinges upon the background of the person delivering the argument.

Of course not. As Mort-Hog said: "To [an American, southern, pseudo-conservative], the actual contents of any argument is irrelevant. A 'debate' hinges upon the background of the person delivering the argument."
This is what it really comes down to. You think you don't have to make intelligent arguments backed up with evidence. You think you don't have to develop rhetorical skills beyond the ability to mash your face against a keyboard and occasionally mention terrorists and Fox News. You think you don't have to do anything, because you're a hick. People like you are why there hasn't been a memorable speech spoken on American soil since the 60s.

See, maybe it's one of those strange "cultural differences" you fear so much, but in most of the world there exists a vast, cavernous difference between southern racism and conservatism. I vote conservative and I self-identify as a conservative in all of the ways that have meaning beyond your shallow notions of racial inequality and of early industrial age capitalism.

I believe I already discussed how being opposed to your ideas naturally makes me left of center, as well as a communist, a fascist, a terrorist and a northern agitator.

We've just revealed that he doesn't care how bad he sounds, that he embodies all of the worst historical aspects of southern politics, that he isn't sufficiently self-aware to recognize his ethnocentrism, and that his opinions are firmly based on the political views and cargo cult economics presented by Fox News.

I could lend credence to the argument that I'm some southerner by arguing that I'm actually from Seattle but since I am not only in the Army but have been stationed in Kentucky three times as well as still own property in Tennessee I have clearly turned away from my "Yankee" heritage.

I could also argue that conservatives are the ones most likely to oppose government oppression but somebody will just bring up marijuana.

There are some interesting valid points with regards to the south, though. The southern states were on the right side of the civil war with regards to states' rights. They were clearly on the wrong side with human rights, though.

I think it would be best if the government just recognized civil unions rather than marriage, and left marriage to be decided by the religious organizations. If I'm correct most people are arguing about the term of marriage rather than rights.

"Separate but equal." Hey, how topical.

I never meant separate but equal, although I probably could've worded that better. I was referring to homosexual and heterosexual unions being recognized as civil unions by the government.

I believe that if this happened, it would be the first time we have ever corrected unequal access to a state-provided service by abolishing the service.

People can still get married if they can find a place that will perform the marriage.

My main problem with gay marriage is that any churches, synagogues, and mosques that didn't want to perform a gay marriage ceremony will be forced to, or else they'll be breaking the law.

Right, just like how the catholic church isn't allowed to refuse to marry people who have been legally divorced.
