I like it. I would suggest fixing some texture alignments though :D

I dig the bar area, nice layout.

And where would I get these models? I turn brushes into .ase models to save on tris count, but I don't know how to use 3dmax or blender.

Should I learn those?

What are your goals? I don't think you should go out and learn a 3d modelling program to make this map better just for the sake of a few people who would like to see more detailed models. However, if you are really into mapping and modelling and might make it a career, it can't hurt.

Definitely not a career. I just like screwing around with it.

There are some mappers who map entirely in Blender now on 3dmax and import it.

I was reading Splash damage forums, and a guy was trying to integrate q3map2, the compiler, into blender3d with an addon so you didn't have to use anything but Blender. Cool idea.

You have any opinions on blender vs. 3dmax?

I haven't used either, I just map for fun as well.

But Blender would be painstaking when it comes to brush-mapping.

You can import the model and there is a key to the shader to make it solid.

IDK exactly how it's done, but I've seen a lot of people do it.

A lot of this map was made in 3dmax...well at least the downhill snowboarding part and the bean stalk park.

No, I was asking why he didn't use one of those pics the first time he asked us about map submissions, he used some unrelated pic and got flamed.

I posted the first pic because I wanted to show the Massassi temple reference in my map as I stated in the post.
2009-11-20, 2:27 PM #52
That's not what I'm asking.
Why didn't you give pics of the level last time you made this thread?
2009-11-20, 2:55 PM #53
I didn't see very many new maps so I posted in order to ask if Massassi would be willing to take a new map.

Once someone asked for screens, I opened jk2, tooks some screens, uploaded them to photobucket and posted them.

I didn't bother until someone requested it.
2009-11-20, 2:56 PM #54
Okay...
You can submit it with a couple of those screens now, it looks great.

Lookin' fine.
