Seems Direct2Drive are following in Steam's footsteps.

One game per day special until christmas.

Yeah, I've been watching this.

Mirrors edge was 5 bucks
The Witcher, a PC-only RPG that got good reviews was like 20 bucks.
And today it's need for speed (today being the 3rd).
And in 8 hours something else.

Hopefully something that really looks interesting to me will come along.

From the looks of it, it follows the tree ornament below. Its likely to be Red Alert 3 next.

I'm having a blast with Mirror's Edge, I love the style, and got The Witcher too because I'd been wanting to play that. Witcher is a big disappointment because it runs terribly. It stutters alot. And really, it doesn't look that great.

I purchased "Mirror's Edge" for my brother for Christmas. I'm hoping that once he's done with it he'll let me play. :)
? :)

I'm thinking of getting Mirror's Edge on the PS3 for xmas for my dad. He loves first person shooters and it seems like this one's a mighty fun twist to the formula. Too bad I can't find a good deal for it. Oh well, I still have lots of credits at the game store.

I highly recommend The Witcher, but make sure you get The Witcher Enchanced, as the original release is filled with bugs.

The only bad thing about The Witcher is that the English version is pretty bad (bad voice acting, bad translation from native Polish).

The Russian localization is great, though, and I heard that the Hungarian one is pretty good too. Witcher Enchanced comes with like 8 different languages (full voice + all text), so if English isn't your native language, you'll get a higher quality game. :)

I did get enhanced. It seems very fun, but my system is old so that might be why.

AMD X2 4800+
Radeon HD 4650
2GB RAM
(Windows XP)

I really want to like it, because it looks fun and stylish and I love the setting. I just need to figure out how rid myself of the stuttering and also why some parts of cutscenes flow at 50-60 fps and then other parts suddenly drop to 5 fps.

I think the 4650 is your problem. It wasn't perfect when I had a 512mb 4870 -- now it's great. :)

Well sure its not a top video card, but I'm not running the game on max settings either. No depth of field, medium everything, no AA, 1280x1024. At which point it looks like ***. Even on Low it still stutters.

The Witcher was cool, but I got bored of it's fighting style... I like oblivion style fighting more than the one click and wait style.

It's not one click and wait. You do that, you die...if you time your attacks correctly, you're better/faster. It's not turn-based like NWN.

I think it's pretty lame that in order to get entered into the contest, you have to guess all 24 christmas ornaments correctly. Since they only show one per day, any visitors to the site who either check it out after it's already past the first day, or miss a day, they are ineligible. You basically have to visit the site once a day every 24 days. I wonder how many people will actually do that?
2009-12-04, 2:06 PM #21
Ah, they give a hint for the next day, gotcha.

I will, just to see what's on sale. I had no idea there was a contest, though...not really paying attention to that. :P

There's a daily prize; only the grand prize requires that you get all 24 right.
