How do I record sound onto my computer?

I want to record me playing an acoustic guitar...obviously I could get a $5 microphone, but I'd like some decent quality here. What hardware/software do I need?

Shut up. I'm GOING to do this whether you like it or not.

Well, you can get an acoustic guitar with a built in microphone. They produce a good sound quality, whilst still allowing you to plug it into a PA/sound system or a computer for recording. GoldWave is always a good program to use.

remember the best way to record an acoustic with a mic is to aim your mic at the point on your guitar where the neck and the body meet
