Would you watch a hybrid of Firefly and Ocean's 11?

A friend just linked me to this and, although I was quite skeptical at first, it really does look quite good. Certainly are equal elements of humour and action on display, at least. The only name I recognise is Sean Pertwee, who was the Father in Equilibrium.

You can watch a teaser by clicking here and scrolling down to the next newspost. I'd recommend watching for anyone who was a fan of Firefly.

Yes, yes I would.

It gives off a vibe of something familiar, but I'm not sure what. Babylon 5 maybe?
nope.

Watching it again, I also got a huge sense of nostalgia for Cowboy Bebop. I think it was a combination of the music and the big casino ship that did it.

Oh man they have got to find a way to put Mark Sheppard (the guy who played Badger in Firefly) in this. He would be *perfect*.

I'm not a big fan of the Ocean's movies... perhaps because I'm rather anti-Clooney

Meh.

Oceans 11 was a Rat Pack movie. There was no Clooney, and there were no sequels.

On topic of Ellis and film, did you know that they're making the movie "Red" (based on his short graphic novel series of the same name) with Bruce Willis as Moses? :D Only learnt that now. The only other adaptation of his work I've ever seen was the failed Global Frequency pilot (which I liked, btw).

oh yeah, i read that book a long time ago, and heard about the film from a Bad Signal he sent out in like aug-sept. sad that hes gonna stop doing it, but i guess warrenellis.com is enough ellisisms for anyone. have you seen his TOTWs?

never saw the global frequency pilot, but i bet it would be awesome. another adaptation is in the works apparantly.

the rights to Black Summer have recently been sold too.

Check your local internets for the pilot, it's pretty cool. Not sure what you mean about TOTW...

I haven't actually read Red. Heh. I've only read Global Frequency, Lazarus Churchyard, Transmetropolitan (ofc), Switchblade Honey, the first few issues of Desolation Jones, and Orbiter. Orbiter was damn good, btw. Maybe some other random stuff as well.

What's TOTW?

he does a t-shirt of the week now. been going on about a month. one tee thats only available for a week. they're usually pretty funny.

just check out warrenellis.com and read through some of the blog. its half linkblog/half ranting. although recently its been mostly linkblogging, but at least its usually interesting.

anywhos, you should read red, its p awesome. you should also check out his run on Stormwatch/The Authority. also Doktor Sleepless. also check out Black Gas, his take on zombies, Wolfskin, his take on fantasy, and as mentioned in the previous post, Black summer. the last four of those are on the Avatar label.

i really want to pick up a copy of crooked little vein.
