Only if you can except that a majority of the 10 thousand servers of full of children.
If you can find a good one it's fun though.

Cool. I've played w/ a Massassian previously, I believe. :)

I haven't played that in AGES. Back in the day I played it nonstop, loved it.
I think it would still stand up well against fps' of today, but that might be the nostalgia talking.
Then again, it's $5... I think it's a safe bet you'll get at least $5 worth of entertainment from it ;)

Pick up a WEEL gun!

(related... NSFW, language + violence)

If it's only $5 pick it up.

I still play it regularly.

Most likely because that's about the level my hardware's at.

I'd save your $5 if you don't have it. :P
nope.

I would buy it. It's pretty fun, but theres a really high learning curve. Chances are, if you are not already pretty good at most FPS's you are going to suck majorly the first couple days. Some guys are just insanely good, and others cheat. Remember to use the "walk" function, as many people can pretty much tell where you are by the sound of your footsteps.

What game have you been playing? Unless you consider 18 - 26 children, then ok.

I love this game... mostly because it's the game I'm best at.

It's an extremely vanilla game. You also have to consider that the people who play it have been playing for it for years.

It's true that it is a simple game, which makes it all the more skill dependent, which (as pointed out) makes it quite hard for newcomers, especially when theres people who have played it for years.
I don't know what Tibby's talking about, apart from a tendency to overuse the three letter f word the people are generally pretty mature. Though I can only speak for the aussie servers.

I played 1.6 more than Source, but I got tired of dealing with stupid people and hacks.

Yeah I definitely played 1.6 more, CS:S didn't add much new to the game besides graphics and I had already played the crap out of 1.6

Also on steam, Red Orchestra is $5 this weekend:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/1200/

I tried it a while back and was personally not that impressed with it, but I know some people that swear by it so I thought I would pass the news along. IMO many of the other WWI/WWII games like Call of Duty series or DoD:S are superior.
My favorite JKDF2 h4x:
EAH XMAS v2
MANIPULATOR GUN
EAH SMOOTH SNIPER

Red Orchestra is fun IMO, definitely worth 5 bux

"superior" =/= what the relationship between RO and CoD/DOD. I'd go more with "different". They are, after all, aiming for completely different audiences.
DO NOT WANT.

That's probably just when they're angry at their ISP about to cut them off due to its data transfer limit.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

I always preferred Red Orchestra because of my Unreal Engine bias and since it did not have Omaha Beach or a church in France at any point.

Then again I did play DoD:S like hell (I sucked like hell as well but that was only part of the fun!) back in 2005 so I still like it better! Amazing!

If you have a group of people who still get together for LAN games (I miss the days), CS:S can be pretty entertaining. Particularly with some of the addons that are more competition oriented.

We play[ed] a lot of Gun Game which is essentially a tiered fight starting with the lowest pistol and ending with a grenade. Each successful kill with each weapon upgraded you to the next weapon in the next round. Similarly if you are killed with a lower weapon than your own you are downgraded.

I have to convince myself a round of CSS wont end the same way as it always does: Switching servers until I start winning. My FPS skills have turned into cheap **** with the TF2 spy and nothing else.

Also, I'm occasionally a part of a clan. Feel free to try out our servers.

As with most CS clans, racism abound. You've been warned.
