Computer instability- how to find a cause?

Oh yeah step #1 of fixing computers: Make sure all cables are snug (unplug and replug them to be sure: tech support calls this "making sure there is no dust stuck in the cable") and make sure all hardware is properly seated.

Yeah on my desktop build I couldn't even get a POST beep and I couldn't figure out why and was freaking out and turns out the mobo ATX cable was loose -__-

Reading this thread was like an übernerdy episode of House.

Well, It's still crashing with the just the one stick in so I'm going to send both back, If it still crashes... then I guess I just RMA the rest of it peice by peice.
This P4 plays Dues Ex and XWA just fine, So it's all good.
****ing annoying though.

I'm 90% sure it's the power supply now, what with all my symptoms matching those online including fan problems (Which I only noticed now).
Gonna get a Corsair TX650 tomorrow, if anyone has objections speak now lest ye be silent.

And thus the problems continued, guess I'll follow through with Mushkins RMA.

Passing a complete cycle of memtest should have ruled out the ram. But guess you should RMA anything you still can at this point ;)

Probably PSU or motherboard. I think most videocard related issues result in a hard lockup but rarely a restart.

I just replaced the PSU, and this has happened with 2 video cards.
Everything is completely new and this has happened more or less since I got it in september (But it was more "Weekly" and less "Within half an hour of startup" then).
