Hahaha. Is the game supposed to be like the old shows or the new movie?

It's set in 2409, so it's post TNG.

I've been in beta a few weeks now. They're pushing a big patch tonight, so here's hoping it'll be better...

If anyone wants an idea on how space combat works, download Bounty Bay Online. Actually much of the game is like it as far as travel, instancing, etc.

Seconded. :)
I can't wait for the day schools get the money they need, and the military has to hold bake sales to afford bombs.

I'm getting pretty excited for this game. Not too keen on the "controlling 4 other CPU players" for grouping, I'm hoping it's more like regular grouping in MMO's and not like that all the time. Nevertheless I'm planning on giving it a whirl.

FYI the Klingon side (Unlocked when you hit fed level 6 atm but this will change) consists of basically griefing everything that moves...

Thats awesome...

Basically what happens is if the mission calls for a full away team of 5, those 5 slots will be first filled by grouped players. For example, say that you are grouped with one other person. The first two members of the away team will be you and the person you're grouped with. One of you will have the choice of bringing 2 of your BOs (Bridge Officers) with you and one of you will have the choice of bringing 1. Also, if you are playing solo and it's early in the game where you only have 1 BO, the remaining slots will be filled by generic Security Officers. Thus, you always have a full away team even if you can't find another player to group with.

As far as control of the "other CPU players", think Republic Commando. Tactical officers will bring the power, Engineers will keep your personal shields up, and Science officers will heal you. If you fall in combat and at least one of them survives, they will revive you. Also, you can revive them.
