HP computers are racist

HP's comment:

"Some of you may have seen or heard of a YouTube video in which the facial-tracking software didn’t work for a customer. We thank Desi, and the people who have seen and commented on his video, for bringing this subject to our attention." ... "We are working with our partners to learn more. The technology we use is built on standard algorithms that measure the difference in intensity of contrast between the eyes and the upper cheek and nose. We believe that the camera might have difficulty 'seeing' contrast in conditions where there is insufficient foreground lighting."

Look on the bright side dude. When the robot revolution comes and all the humans are being eliminated by HP kill-bots, you'll be safe because they can't see you! Whereas all the white people will be instantly tracked down and destroyed.

Ha!
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

When he started talking about "My Blackness", I couldn't help but start imagining royalty of some sort.

Well, I say that but I actually started picturing Shaft in a Crown. :P

I think the reason for the issue is quite clear. The computers themselves are black. Obviously a black computer wouldn't be racist to a black person. It could be more of an Uncle Tom black computer, feeling a need to please its white users. It could possibly be a traitor to its race but not racist. I wonder if a white version of the computer would feel the need to pander towards a black user kind of like many white Americans in the last presidential election.

Does blaming white guilt for Obama's election make you feel better? Because I can't imagine it serves any other useful purpose.

Wookie is trying to turn a thread about computers, and the idiots who use them, into a partisan debate.

Introducing politics to a topic that involves racism, even humorously, is not exactly a high degree of difficulty for Wookie.

Since only republicans and conservatives can be racist, it follows that I would be one.

I wonder if there was better lighting on the man's face if it would pick it up at all. Most of the light seemed to be coming from behind him.

Good testing on HP's part though.. hah

I can hear it now. HP is racist because they want to see if black people can use their computers.
