In order to self medicate my recently acquired anger issues, I'm building a new computer to work on my music hobby crap. I have NEVER done this before, so I would appreciate a discerning eye looking over my list. I don't think I forgot to list anything, but it's likely.

AMD Phenom II X4 925
Gigabyte GA-MA790XT
19" 4U ATX Rackmount case
Radeon HD 4650
4GB OCZ RAM
ViewSonic VG730m
or
Acer V173b
Some manner of DVD RW
WD Caviar SE16 320 GB for Windows 7, Ableton Live and Cubase 4 and accessories
WD Caviar Green 1TB for sample libraries and project folders

I've read the specifications for all the parts a million times and I can't for the life of me see any incompatibilities, but I'm a simpleton and don't know what I really need to look for.

I've obviously cut corners on some parts, mostly so I can afford an audio interface and a MIDI controller plus cables and a rack case. The idea isn't to be bleeding edge, but to run these programs and let me work on my projects without the constant frustration I have now, and play at parties.

And yes I'm going to use mp3s and not vinyl or cds so **** you guys.

I'm sorry that was uncalled for.

Help me Massassi, will I ever find true love? Thank you in advance for your sage-like advice!

What the hell is with the rackmount case?

Also, no point in the 320GB hard drive, really, as far as I can tell.

To conveniently store my computer with the rack mount audio gear I have. And carry them 'round in a case.

And every DAW I remember using had a separate drive for things like samples, and one for the OS and programs. I know I have noticed the difference from personal computers of similar build running programs and other crap on the same drive. Not a lot, but still. Like I said, never done this building thing before. Would just having two partitions do just as well without paying for another drive?

Concentrate and ask again.

You're right, I should have asked someone else about the romance portion!

I mean, people here are getting married, wrong place to ask for romance questions!

Or are you afraid I'm falling in love with a computer?
I guess that's possible...
