ok, i managed to get everything working in JK so that it runs on my system. The only problem i am having now is that the screen flickers whenever i move. If i hold still, it goes away, but comes back as soon as i move. I have the ddraw.dll in my directory. Both JK and JKE flicker in game. I have searched for hours trying to fix it but nothing has worked. Any help would be appreciated.

yes, 3d acceleration is on and i have the newest drivers for my video card. If i dont select 3d acceleration, it gives me a message "Unable to set video mode Video card may not have enough memory"

Try resizing the JK screen using the +/- keys. Doing that fixes a similar issue, when just the border is flickering.

ok, i tried that as well, but it still flickers. Even at the smallest setting, i can still see the flickering. Not as bad as it is at full screen but it still does it. I tried fooling with my refresh rate in windows but that didn't seem to help. Disabling aero didn't do anything different either.

I have the exact same problem and I finally figured out what causes it. It's the HUD as well as the text that appears on the screen. If you put the screen size to 10 (so there is no HUD) and don't type or have any text display itself at the top of the screen the flickering will disappear. The game seems to have issues with things near the edge of the screen, at least, with my 4870 ATI card. I am using the ddraw as well as the unofficial patch and I have the latest drivers. That's really the only workaround that I've found.

ok i tried that as well, but it still is doing it my whole screen flickers but its worse at the bottom i can still play but it is annoying as hell

Are you running the game through the JKLauncher? My screen flickers every time someone joins or leaves the chat channel.

I doubt he is, my game does it as well. My guess is that he is using an ATI card and he probably has to run the game with -windowgui which is what causes the flickering on the ATI cards, but we have to use it otherwise JK crashes at startup.

Are you guys referring to how you can see Windows' window border flicker around the JK window? If so I have a fix for that which I can post.

Yes, Emon. That's what we're talking about. It seems to be *very* sporadic, as sometimes I can get it to disappear after playing with the +/- screen sizes in JK, as well as alt tabbing out and coming back in. Sometimes I can get it to fix itself by doing random combinations of these things, but usually I just say to hell with it and I deal with it.

well yea i see the border flicker from time to time, but mine consistantly flickers throughout the screen whenever i move through the game. I can stop and look straight and it will be fine. I have -windowgui enabled because without it i couldn't play the game at all. Like Dark__Knight does i usually say the hell with it and just deal with it.

Huh, I just go to screen size 9 and that works as far as that's concerned, what's the fix?

nothing works for me, the edges flicker about the time the whole damn screen does as well

well i noticed in CS:S that there was flickering as well. I tried putting my old CRT monitor on and there is no flickering at all. The game runs smooth. Now i just have to figure out how to get my lcd monitor to stop flickering.

It sounds like you have refresh rate issues.

woohoo!! well i started a ticket with my video card manufacturer XFX and they gave me a few suggestions that didn't work. Then they told me to send it in for them to test. They told me to try one last thing, which was turn off the Catalyst AI..........it worked!! all the flickering is gone now. Thanks to everyone who gave me suggestions.
