dont know if this is old news or not, but just heard about this and thought it was interesting. apparently google is going to announce a new phone (the Nexus 1) that is NOT going to be bound to any one carrier.

Except it's going to be just another T-Mobile Android phone made by HTC. Nothing really special about it.

I can't imagine the price being very good if it's going to be carrier-free. That would mean it has to support CDMA and GSM.

Its not going to be bound by any carrier but it will be best suited on T-Mobile in the USA, unless you like EDGE.

512MB ROM? What does that do exactly? Operating System memory?

I figured that it just meant that it was half a gig of memory on the phone without an SD card.

The ROM Is where all of the software on the device is stored. You have to flash it in order to get items to remain there.
