A monitor/power cable issue????
2010-01-05, 8:15 AM #1
I have an Acer 24" Monitor that's less than a month old. Sometimes, it wont turn on. I press the power button and nothing. I try this repeatedly. I even jiggle the power cable as well as unplug it from the back of the monitor and reconnect it, nothing. I switch it out for another power cable, and it works on the first try. Once I get it to turn on with another power cable, I can go back to the original and it works. I get the feeling there is some other issue here playing tricks with me, because this frankly doesn't make any sense. Anybody ever hear of something like this?

Does the new one always work? If so, it's likely the power cable. If using the new one is finicky as well, it's likely not.

Sounds like a loose connection. Try the cable (whichever one fails) on another device. If there's no issue, then the monitor probably has a loose connector or something inside. Being that it's still under warranty, don't try to fix it yourself...

Luckily I bought it at Costco, so I'll just stroll in there and get a new one when I get a chance. I tried multiple cables, and a new one would fix the problem for about a week then it would start happening again. I figured there was no way it could be one of those cables anyway, as not much can go wrong with them.

Well, something could go wrong with ONE cable, but unlikely more than that.
