I didn't find this interesting, I found it outright outrageous. Could you imagine!?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8441891.stm

(I recently went through airport security and the only time my bags weren't with me were in the long security line, at any time someone could have planted them on my bags -- also, I was patted down and during that time they could have easily planted something on me -- however, no time BEFORE the actual security line unless the person was really, really good.)

Are we really going to make this a thing?

But yeah, "outrageous" describes it pretty well. It's enough simply that they did it, but failing to notify the authorities who'd eventually have to deal with it is inexcusable. I hope they're forced to compensate the victim.

In the end, that one day of terror will be worth it once they've sued the pants off the Irish government :P

Just imagine if some new terrorist recruit is travelling on holiday and comes home to find that weapons-grade explosives have been magically placed in his bag. IT MUST BE A SIGN.

I find it interesting how they carried out this test with eight pieces of contraband (curiously nondescript), seven of which were stopped. The one that got through was the ****ing bomb!

The important part of the article is of course
Quote:
The Irish Army said passengers had not been put in danger because the explosives were stable and not connected to any essential bomb parts.

This is a pretty important test, we need to know whether increased airport security actually makes us any more secure. But using unwitting members of the public to smuggle bombs? I'm sure the Slovak intelligence services must have interns. This is what they're for!

What a ridiculous method, but at least it eliminates any "tell" such as the person seeming nervous, making the test more useful!
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.
