In fact. Forget about AC1. Never even bother playing it. Just go read a walkthrough so you get the story.

As JM said, It's definitely not necessary to play the first AC first, but I do recommend at least reading through at least the cliffnotes of the story, because 2 picks up almost right where 1 left off, and there are various references to the first throughout the game.

My personal suggestion is still to play AC1 first, just because it's more fun that merely reading about it, but 2 definitely blows the first out of the water thanks to the lack of the repetition the first had, as well as the introduction of an economic system. Plus playing in italy during the renaissance is pretty sweet.

AC1 is sort of a training video for AC2. The story is mildly important (especially for the sidestory of AC2 with the glyphs and everything), and it will get you used to the whole Animus thing. It's worth it. I mean, hell, why not play more video games rather than less? :P
DO NOT WANT.

i havent played AC2 yet (cuz its not on PC yet grrr) but if it were me, i would play 1 before 2 just because i'm a bit of a story completest. i like to know whats going on...

i get confused when my comic books have a crossover storyline they didnt bother to tell me about and i read one issue of something then the next issue, half the caracters are missing or dead because of what happened in some other book.
My girlfriend paid a lot of money for that tv; I want to watch ALL OF IT. - JM

I'll give the first one a try and see how it goes.
