A fun, badass movie that I would give a 7.5/10. Watching Denzel dismembers people with his machete didn't get old at all. Oh and it was nice seeing Gary Oldman return back to his villain days considering he's damn good at it. Yet despite what the trailer shows you, the movie actually doesn't contain that many action sequences you think. The script wasn't anything spectacular, but it was fine for what it was.

By the way, Book of Eli kind of feels like Leon to an extent.
Oldman's character acts (fantastically if I might add) and enunciates like Stan a bit. Meanwhile, Eli and Solara's relationship are akin to the one between Leon and Mathilda.

Oh and the plot twist is cool, Eli is basically like a religious version of Zatoichi.

I loved this movie. Good action, good story, great acting, though one of its greatest strengths, the setting, proved to be its greatest weakness also. On one hand, the bleak, empty world gives a feeling of hopelessness and serves as a great backdrop for the story itself. On the other hand, its a setting we've seen a lot in recent times. (Terminator 4, I Am Legend, etc. in movies) and (Fallout 3, InFAMOUS, etc. in games). For MY part, I adored it, because I'm a huge huge fan of the post-apocalyptic genre, but I really feel it'll hurt it in the critics eyes.

For my part, I give this movie a 9/10.

(And I'm going to have to pursue other venues for my own novel, because I realize that post-apocalyptic settings are far too common in recent times)

I saw it on Friday. Liked it very much, but I figured out the plot twist right in the beginning, when he got his new boots. At least, I was pretty sure. The movie kept me guessing till the end, and it was very gratifying to watch.

The only thing wierd to me was :

How he jumped at the 'sight' of the corpse in the beginning... if he was blind.

Unless some the shabby wooden doors contained the smell impossibly well...

Oh waaaaait, yes I DO know what it is, haha. Forgot about the international title difference.
