I've been told to get a slightly better PSU for more headroom in upgrading.

thats insane. Im having one built for 500 quid from novatech, which includes the tower, 22" monitor, new speakers and wacom bamboo art tablet.
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

I would get a quality 600-700w PSU - I don't recall hearing good things about OCZ's power supplies, but I could be wrong. Any reason for the 750Gb HD? 640Gb WD Black's are known for speed and they can be found for $55 shipped (with coupon code FRESH15), or you can get a 1Tb for $100 at Newegg. (nevermind, looks like the coupon code is expired).

I don't really have a need for a giant HDD, thanks. The list was made by somebody else. I can usually keep it empty enough with Spacemonger.

Looks good, might be some room to save a little money if your willing to order from multiple sites.

Even if you just want to stick with newegg, I would check out this combo-

Sapphire 5850 + ThermalTake 600W PSU - $290
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.310962

Im guessing this one just doesnt show up in WishList- but the CPU/MOBO are also available in a combo which would save you another $10
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.319613

Might not be valid if with the other combo's or codes, but try promo code: EMCLMMN24
Should be -$10 for that Western Digital Black HD.

Why can't combo items be added to a wishlist?

What's with everyone building computers lately

I would get an Antec EarthWatts PSU over the OCZ one and I second getting the WD Black 640GB rather than the 750GB as it is slightly faster (and you noted you don't need a lot of HDD space)

Dunno, I guess Wishlist is supposed to be used for long term planning.

They were talking about the Western Digital Black version, not Western Digital Blue.

Looks pretty good. I never used that case, but it looks like it can handle both the large heatsink and videocard.

What's better about the black HDD instead of the blue one?

It's primarily the difference in cache size. 32mb vs 16mb.

The Black is WD's high performance drives. 32mb Cache, 7200rpm

The Blue is WD's standard desktop drives. 16mb Cache, 7200rpm

The Green is all about powersaving ideal for servers, has the slowest performance. These drives are spin slower, something like 5400-5900 rpm.

cache size has to do with how fast things load, etc?

Not the only factor, but yes.

You will regret this purchase when you are balls deep in college.
Think while it's still legal.

well fair enough. But i'm getting my mate's "8800 GTX XXX Nvidia 768MB" for £50. I'm hoping it can just about run AVP3. maybe. i'm not too fussed.
