Well its been released and its nothing short of epic. ME2 looks to follow up on its predecessor and offer quite the cinematic experience. :awesome:

Damn, really need to finish the PC version of the first before Tuesday so I have a saved game to import. (Finished it on 360 a long time ago, decided to replay on PC before the 2 came out.)

It looks awesome, but I always take issue with large race add-ons... I mean, no mention or sight of some of those aliens in the first... I think there were plenty in the first anyway.

Humans, Geth, Salarians, Asari, Turians, Thorians, (the Big non-emotive guys I forget) Keepers, Protheans, Krogan, Keepers, Reapers. I know they added more in DLC as well, but sheesh.

Aside from that, cant wait.

Well you only saw citadel space and council/council-related species in ME1. Theres often been talk of war with the Terminus System and the traverse, which makes it clear there are more beings out there. And from what I gather the Collectors appear to be behind the Husk technology the geth were using in ME1

Oh and the Batarians added in Bring Down the Sky were actually mentioned on a few occasions in vanilla ME1 too. They didn't pop up out of thin air.

Well I guess I didn't play enough ME1 haha.

I thought the "Omega 4 relay" bit was cheesy as hell, but I don't regret pre-ordering this one bit. So very happy it's released two days after my last exam, too, or I'd be screwed.
2010-01-21, 9:15 AM #7
The presentation was a bit cheesy, but at least thats now how it'll be ingame.

I don't think it was that cheesy, I mean... how else can you say "No one ever comes back from there." In a dramatic way? It's odd that its a red relay; maybe there's not a return relay?

Ugh, can't WAIT for it. Amazon better have it on my doorstep by tuesday afternoon.

The narrator sounds an awful lot like Martin Sheen.

Edit: It is! :)
? :)
2010-01-21, 9:41 AM #10
Yep, Martin Sheen was hired to voice the Illusive Man (the leader of the Cerberus Corporation)

The red glow reminded me of Sovereign's red lightning glow in ME1. Maybe it has to do with the reapers.

I should take Wednesday off... this looks :awesome:
2010-01-21, 10:19 AM #13
Already have it pre-ordered, I also have next week off because of Exams (Don't say "You should be studying, I had a very easy semester and not much to study for). So that leaves me with one awesome game, and a lot of time.
2010-01-21, 10:34 AM #14
I thought the same thing about the red lightening. Maybe its another deep space relay? I wonder if there's going to be a way to get to the reapers without using the citadel relay. I wonder what became of the citadel anyway, it got pretty trashed in the first, as well as (in my game) the Ascension... pft, stupid council.

THere are still parts on the citadel. From what I gather you can meet up with Anderson and others on there. I don't know how it'll look though. This is set 2 years after so they've had time to clean up some. I bet they'll have destroyed all the keepers :P

And yea, I wonder if there is a way into dark space too. Opening up the citadel relay would just beacon them over.

I doubt they destory The Keepers after knowing that the Protheans disabled their 'activation' unit that the Reapers use. I mean, they don't know how the Citadel works, at least the Keepers keep things running lol.

I for one would probably just ditch the citadel. Blow that ****er up sky high. No more reaper relay, huzzah.

Then what about the loss of the all the industrial, political, and commercial buildings and stuff on the station?

Comeon guys, nerd argument time!

Totally knew it was Yvonne Strahovski of Chuck fame voicing the new female.

Well, in my opinion, you do what it bloody takes to stop a force bent on destroying all life in the galaxy. Sitting pretty on its homing beacon is probably the stupidest of ideas in the history of the universe. :P

Now that's a good point, and I don't disagree with blowing it up.
But I bet that my reasoning will be the same as the councils or whatever.

Is this coming out on Steam?

(Edit: Yes)

So badass. I can't wait.

I think it would be easier to just disable the Citadel. Figure out specifically what part of it is the relay, and blow THAT up...

I was going to try and get my character to level 60 last night, but I decided not to bother.

From what I've gathered, it only adds to the player's starter level.

Level 40-49 characters start at level 2
Level 50-59 characters start at level 3
Level 60 characters start at level 5

I'd prefer starting at level 1

Considering how much time it would take to get a ME1 player to level 60, compared to getting an ME2 player to level 5... Starting at 1 sounds like the best option.

Exactly. It'll take longer to hit level 5 than it did in ME1, considering the level cap is halved, but it shouldn't take too long nonetheless.

Oh, that's good to know. I'd given up on trying to get all my characters to level 60, but I could definitely shoot for 50.

Its an approximated guess, but so far only the level 50-59 = level 3 has been confirmed.

I for one prefer to start off at level 1 or 2.

The Rich achievement apparently yields some form of bonus too (I'd imagine more credits)

Anyone else hope Joker makes it out of the Normandy okay? I mean... Seth Green made that character fun to talk to, I don't want to see his brittle husk of a body explode!

Oh it does, he's the pilot of the SR2. :)

But yes, Joker is by far my favorite supporting character in the series so far.

Doubt I'll get to 60. I forget what level I got to on the 360 version. I've about to do Virmire on my PC playthrough. Should finish this weekend hopefully if I have the time. I'm going to at least finish it before I start 2.

I do too, I love that song.

And WOOHOO, the whole soundtrack for Mass Effect 2 is on Zune Pass. RIGHT NOW.

Apparently the music is done by Jack Wall (known for his work in a multitude of games including Myst 3, and his participation in Video Games Live). I think this might be his best work yet.

The song in the trailer is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISzK6e237II

And can be downloaded (lol fail streaming) from the company's website: http://www.twostepsfromhell.com/2SFHwebcontent/mp3/legend-promomix.mp3
