Game recommendation - giving back to the community

With a lot of gaming nostalgia going on around here (sonic, pop, JK of course, etc....) I can absolutely, wholeheartedly recommend indiana jones and the fate of Atlantis to everyone here.

[http://www.juegomania.org/Indiana+Jones+and+the+Fate+of+Atlantis+%5B3.5%22%5D/foto/pc/4/4984/4984_t.jpg/Foto+Indiana+Jones+and+the+Fate+of+Atlantis+%5B3.5%22%5D.jpg]

Intelligent, immersive, no stupid distracting 3d models. Incredible story, characters, scenery... I honestly wish I could play this game for the first time again.

USE KEY ON DOOR. Man those were the days.... Sophia was pretty hot too for a bunch of pixels.

I humbly recommend this game. Play it through 3 times (it has 3 possible paths - thinking path, team path or fighting path) and slowly let it transform your life. No walkthroughs :)

It is pretty awesome. I've beaten all three paths over the years. I played it again with the wits path not very long ago.

For anyone who doesn't know, GOG.com recently acquired distribution rights (DRM free of course) to Activision's back catalogue. They're drip-releasing titles over this month.

So far they've released Arcanum, Vampire thingy, and Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father.

I'm hoping for Interstate 76 and Spycraft: The Great Game.

BECAUSE SPYCRAFT WAS AWESOME.

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father.

Now there's a game that marked my childhood.

I still wear a crocodile mask and climb ladders to check my assistant's rack to this day. :awesome:

For the enthusiasts: what is the needed course of action in the submarine scenario from the pic posted above?

The entire Space Quest collection.

I remember getting Fate of Atlantis for free back in like 94 by subscribing to a year of PC Gamer. Man, those PC Gamer demo discs were so badass too.

You go to the room behind them and whisper in Sofia's ear. She pretends it's Nur Ab Sal contacting her. You tell her to distract the guard. Then you go down in front of the guard and by the time he notices you, Sofia's lugged him over the head with the bucket.

Temperamental, I played and loved SQVI, will playing the predecessors still be any fun?

Tenshu, the Space Quest series is one of the holy grails of adventure games. There are two versions of SQI, the original and a revamped VGA version. Make sure you play the original first, and the VGA one later. I believe they are all supported in ScummVM these days, too.

And of course, anyone who likes adventure games MUST play Grim Fandango.

I played the team path a few weeks ago to test ScummVM on my N900.
It's really great that thanks to ScummVM you can play all these awesome games on virtually any computing device you can find.
Sorry for the lousy German

I just got this game on Steam a week or two ago. I'm about 2/3 of the way through it...but I've been using walkthroughs when I get really stuck.

I'm too old to waste my time getting frustrated by games.

I've always wanted to try Sins of the Father ever since playing The Beast Within in the mid-nineties.

I deeply distrust that game and its no mouse - retarded keyboard controls. :argh:

Haha! Yeah, the controls are a little unintuitive. They are by far the worst problem in the game.

...that's a pretty good sign, when the only legitimate problem is the control scheme...

They aren't on gog I'm afraid. They might be put up later though :)

I love the original space quest so much.

I've had the Spycraft box sitting on my shelf since early 2000, someone won it in some raffle and gave it to me, I've never installed it cuz it didn't look that interesting.... have I been neglecting a possibly great game all this time?

Yeah, Fate of Atlantis is truly awesome - most definitely my favourite Indy game. I played through it at least 5 times or so back in the day, and even read the comic. :)

Spycraft is quite frankly one of the best games I've ever played. Obviously it's a bit dated now, but it is truly awesome.
