So bad, Sylar is ruined "HEY PETAR, I LIEK IT LOL" at the christmas lights...wtf is this..rudolph the red nose reindeer
2010-02-08, 7:07 PM #2
Wait... Sylar is actually moved in a definitive direction for the first time in 3 seasons and you think that's bad?

Oh, I'm sorry. There must be people who enjoyed the characters seemingly flopping all over the place from good to bad to wtf.

What you fail to understand sir, is that they have no intention of keeping Sylar good, first he was the villian, then he was powerless, then he was the co-worker, then the big brother, now a hero? this is just another big flop in his trail of floppyness, watching him kill people was like watching people get eaten in jurassic park, it never got old for me

i cant believe they left that cliffhanger when its still up in the air if they are even going to come back

I almost never quit watching a TV show no matter how bad it gets, I have to see it through to the end.

My wife & I decided to give "Heroes" a shot while we were waiting for the final season of "Lost" & the next season of "Californication" to come out on Netflix. We both agree that season 4 is the best one yet.
? :)

You must've skipped season 1 then

I've now seen all of season 4. It's a very close second to season 1. The thing season 4 has had which seasons 2 and 3 have lacked is actual character development.

I thought the finale was excellent. I'm sorry it bothers you that characters don't just do the same thing over and over anymore. You know, Sylar kills people, Claire *****es about being special and wanting to be normal, Peter talks about how everything will go to **** but doesn't do anything about it, Noah runs his daughter's life, etc...

Instead, we get Claire revealing the existence of specials to the world, Sylar saving the day, Peter kicking *** and saving the day, Noah letting Claire make her own decisions no matter how much it hurts...

In other words, for the first time since season 1, the show is interesting again.

When is Peter going to have his power restored to normal where can take multiple abilities?
2010-02-09, 7:25 PM #15
about the same time sylar goes back to being evil
eat right, exercise, die anyway

Peter being nerfed seems like a permanent thing at this point. If it was going to be undone, it would have been by now. He's nerfed because if he can absorb all abilities just by being near someone, pretty much anyone he faces will be owned immediately. He'd always be more powerful than everyone, and without some kind of kryptonite, he pretty much becomes a one man army. And while watching a one man army destroy the enemies is entertaining, it's ultimately not compelling.

This is the biggest reason I like the idea of Sylar being good. He's got a reason to not use his powers to the fullest extent possible. He's kind of like a recovering addict. He wants to be able to help, but he knows he can't get carried away otherwise he'll end up hurting people again. I think it presents a very good struggle that (hopefully) will be very interesting to watch.

I also rather like the idea of Peter and Sylar being buddies. Almost like Peter is Sylar's sponsor in a program.

So you've got your options. You can have fully powered Peter carry the idiot ball like he did the entire time in seasons 1 and 2, or you can have a compelling character faced with struggles he can't easily physically overcome, like he is now.

You can have murdering Sylar who only kills people and takes there powers because he more or less has some sort of complex where he wants to be cooler than everyone else, or you can have him struggle to be a good guy, taking the lead of Peter and trying to make something of himself. It's called redemption (you know, the title of this volume of the show). What did you think it was all about this whole time?

Anthony gives a good argument, he has given me something to think about. I respect your response sir.

I'm one of those jerkoffs that sits around and analyzes the **** out of everything. I hate myself for doing it because it more often than not makes me appear to be an obnoxious elitist prick, but if it helps you enjoy the show by looking at it from an alternate point of view, then I'm happy.

Looking deeply at things has ruined the prequels and Stargate seasons 8-10 for me.

I was explaining to my brothers why Attack of the Clones sucks the other day and I didn't realize until then how much I actually hated it and how easy it would have been for it to be awesome.

Attack of the Clones has not aged well. especially in comparison to Revenge of the Sith.

Aged well?! It started rancid! I think you mean it's appalling that no one's thrown it out yet.

About 2 years ago, I finally realized that The Phantom Menace is FAR better than Attack Of The Clones
2010-02-10, 11:34 AM #25
Attack of the Clones and The Phantom Menace are both horrid in the fact that they could have easily been excellent with very few modifications to the overall storyline.

The Phantom Menace at least had a sense of adventure going, and the editing allowed viewers to actually follow what's going on. If you weed out the annoying characters (clearly which ones), proofread the writing, and added some clear changes (i.e. less podracing, the outcome was obvious), it would have been decent enough to at least rival the first movie of the original trilogy (A New Hope wasn't that good).

Attack of the Clones tried desperately to incorporate a love story and the "emotional" character development of Anakin and friends, held afloat by George Lucas' inability to write. That alone made the ship half-sunken before it left port. The whole movie, I find, was just so hard to watch.

Actually, I think the entire Prequel Trilogy would improve 675% if someone took the time to proofread the damn writing.
